ZZP 2 Bar MAP for LE5
« on: July 27, 2012, 07:24:03 AM »
So I'm just trying to get everything in order for the turbo install (jinsuko3's and Compression's old set up) and I was just wondering if the 2 bar MAP for the LE5 is something I'm going to need for this and why? I have searched and found several results on the cobalt forum but they are pretty inconclusive. What are the advantages? disadvantages?

Not sure which one they are using, but if it is the same 2 bar MAP we sell and use in our forced induction 2.4L kits, it allows more accurate fueling and better fueling during transitions.

The only downside is buying it that I can think of and setting it up in the ECM.

Hope that helps,
Dave

Isn't it because a 1bar sensor can't accurately measure the pressure above normal atmosphere?  Can a 1bar even provide the correct fuel in FI setups?

You are correct, since the stock MAP sensor on the 2.4L is a 1 bar sensor, the ECM does not know when you are above atmospheric pressure. I am not sure anymore, but there used to be several kits for the Solstice/Sky that only used the stock 1 bar MAP sensor and they run ok. The 2 bar helps with transitions between vacuum and boost more then full throttle conditions.
