Poly bushings UPDATE
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:11:31 PM »
After a bunch of discussions with the R&D side at Energy Suspension it seems fairly clear that the front and rear control arm bushing sets WILL fit ALL of the Kappas. At some point they will populate the kits with split bushings instead of one piece style. However, at this point they do NOT have bushings for the sway bars. Some cautions when you order this stuff;

1) If you own a Sol or Sky WITH the torque arm, don't bother with the master kit as you will paying for a diff bushing that is not needed. Instant paper weight.
2) If you order ANY kits make SURE that the seller has verified that the kit contains EIGHT metal sleeves in both the front ahd rear control arm sets. If only four each don't bother as it's an old stock kit and you will have to machine six of the eight lower control arm sleeves (if you have the FE3 suspension).

3) READ THE INSTRUCTIONS as a few pieces are reused.
4) Make this thing (6" threaded stock with nuts and washers, 8" is better) to insert the bushings --

I used an OTC ball joint press kit for extraction.
5) Not sure, but it appears that E.S. is the only producer of a poly bushing kit for Kappas.
6) A couple of the advertisers on this site do sell these kits.

After a series of phone calls, Energy Suspension sent me four fresh lower control arm sleeves for the front controls arms. As I suspected, the front went MUCH faster than the rear. Everything went back together quickly, and after double checking everything was properly snugged up, I had time/energy left to install a Dejon spring on the turbo. Worked, too.

Along with the bushings came another (stiffer) set of springs on the front, went full soft on the front bar (still about 40% stiffer than the FE3 bar), reconnected the rear bar, and took a drive. The front bushings make a more discernible, and positive, change. While the suspension changes had the desired effect on the turn in, and front/rear balance, the front is more predictable in how it reacts to inputs. And it sure communicates what the front is doing and how "gushy" the Goodyears are. I can't wait to get to the seasons first Test & Tune and see how it acts with Hoosiers. When is the DDM front brace EVER going to be ready for sale?
