Hello from Sin City
« on: November 04, 2012, 03:11:30 PM »
Just picked up a 2007 GXP with 48K on the clock.  Needed a Daily Driver as my other car is just way to wild to drive around in city traffic, plus 12 mpg just kinda sucks.  Really like the new ride, it's a peppy fun little ride.  Don't plan on doing too much to it as my Mustang pretty much gobbles up any mod money.  I do plan on doing a few small things to customize it as it is very hard for me to keep anything stock.  But I do do all my own work on the car so I will be pretty active on here as I have found forums to be the best resource for information.
Future plans for the car include a tune, exhaust, wheels and a few cosmetic changes.  Probably find a few more little things to do to dress it up and make it perform a little better as I learn more about the car, but nothing really major in the plans.

Welcome to the Kappa Performance Forum 07 Boss. Wow, I am jealous what a great stable you have indeed with the Mustang Boss and the 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP.  We own a 2007 early build Pontiac Solstice GXP and I see you mentioned that you might upgrade to another exhaust.

We added a Solo Mach Exhaust to "Miss Red Eagle" at the North Carolina National Meet and I am pleased with the added performance it brings to the Eagle.  You will really enjoy ownership of your "Agressive", Victory Red Pontiac Solstice GXP!

Sorry guys, here's a couple of pics of the GXP and a couple of my Mustang which is my pride and joy.  Thanks for the welcome too.  As soon as my new job starts to get dialed in and I have some time, the light modding will begin and I will be much more active on the forum.  From what I've been reading these little cars can be made into some real performers but that is not my goal.  A little more pep and maybe a little tighter in the corners is all I am looking for in this car.  I still have quite a bit of work to do with my GT to make it into a 10 second car.  My GXP is going to help facilitate that by being a daily driver and allowing me to have the down time with the Mustang.  Maybe one day we will do some major mods to the little red convertible, maybe even drop a V-8 in there, but for now just want to get it in good working order with just a little custom touch to set it apart.  Again thanks for the warm welcome.

And a couple of the GT

Sorry guys, the new beta photobucket website is effing with my computer and I can't seem to make it work for me.  Gonna have to figure out what's up.

Edit:  Well I switched back to the old photobucket so here are a few more of the GT

that little red vert can with a couple of tweeks, leave your pony buddies behind, light to light.  Might not stand a chance against your blown stang, but still a good high 12's low 13's car.   :)

Start with the chassis braces.  backbone, probeam and front brace.  Any of these make for decent changes on their own, but together they make a new car.  Second (or simultaneously) get a GOOD RELIABLE tune.  This is your daily driver, so no need to go all out with the tune.  Third, since you mentioned getting some new wheels, get some good rubber underneath the car.  Sin City certainly gets some rain and since this is your daily, a summer only tire is probably out, but I believe there are some quality choices that will keep you safe in the flash flood rains you get.

Make the right choices now

Right on. I really enjoy the contrast in the two cars. I built my S197 to go in a straight line and I think I'm going to build my GXP to corner nicely

Yes, I have been impressed with my Solstice. It's quite a quick little car. I really like the way it pulls between 4K and 6K.

Well one of the things that I have learned about building cars is build from he ground up. So suspension will be first on the list. My current rubber are F1's I think. I'm kinda partial to the Toyo T1R's. Even though they are an R compound tire, they do OK in the wet. Not good by any means but I drive pretty damn slow when it does get wet. That's comes from running DR's on my Mustang all year round.

I am using the Hankook Ventus V12's and they are way better than the stock tires. I rarely drive in the rain but the few times I have these tires have been very good. Since this is more my fun car than a daily driver (though I drive it daily!) my next set of tires will be something a bit more sticky. Maybe some Nitto's?

For handling, listen to GJ's suggestions! (Can't believe I just wrote that). The mods he listed will transform your cars handling and at a very reasonable cost. I lowered mine to give it a more aggresive stance and further aid in cornering.
