Midwest vehicle transport to Flagstaff for the 2013 Nationals?
« on: December 14, 2012, 12:34:27 PM »
Hello all!

We are going to be attending the 2013 Kappa Nationals in Flagstaff as a vendor and as you know its quite a hike from the midwest (Chicago area).  I am bringing the whole family and we are going to make a vacation out of the trip so we will be flying out instead of driving.

I am tossing around the idea of hiring a SEMI to transport vehicles there and back from our shop located outside of Chicago?  We have 2 vehicles from our shop that we need to bring and it could become quite reasonable the more cars we get!

So my question is, who, if anyone would possbily be interested in this?

Let me know any interest or vehicle count and I can get some pricing figured out.

I know this is out there, but on other forums, I have seen fellow members pay other local members to drive their cars in these matters.  I've even seen one case where some member flew someone from out of town to drive their car to a location, and then fly the driver home from there when they were moving.

Hey Dave...

I have a big old email list of Kappas in IL.  I can send out an email if you'd like.  I was gonna put the pedal to the metal and drive the 32 hrs down, but I might be interested in doing this one way if we get enough cars.  I could drive to Chi-town and bet I could get a cheap flight back to Cleveland while the car ships.  Drive down, fly back or vice versa.  Depends on if we get a caravan.  I know I said I would caravan, but sometimes they get slower with all the cars and stops.  With my project backing up, I'm not going to have a ton of time.

In fact...crap...we're not starting up until the end of May now and it's a 6 week start up curve.  Oh no.  Oh no...I'm not giving up this vacation!!

That would be great if you could, those people know you better than they know me most likely.  We can arrange rides to airports, cabs and anything for anyone from our shop.

No problem!  I'll get ahold of a few people in the Chicagoland area who meet up and see if anyone is interested!

Great idea!

I jokingly suggested a carrier transport in one of the 13 National threads (talk about a Kodak moment).     Question I'd have is how would insurance work?

BTW, would we be able to ride in our cars while they were being transported (another Kodak moment), bedpans included?

Primary reason I like the idea is never cared to drive several hundred (or thousand) miles just to go an event that includes...more driving.

I'm out also.  I'll have 2 projects going on and I'll only be able to get away for a long weekend at best.  But, I'm still hoping to make it out to Flagstaff!
