Due to recent events, regular members no longer have the ability to modify or delete posts.  This is only a feature for supporting members.

Can I ask why? I dont understand why this would be necessary to remove this feature. I only say this because I use this A LOT and modify my posts for typos and words i skip over.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks

To DBG:

I, too, used the "modify" feature a lot to clean up the typos, extra words, and missed words in an attempt to make my messages more readable.

I know why you did it, but this response seems to be a bit of overkill.

I know I don't post a lot here, but this will inhibit my posting even more.

C'est le vie!

I too, think this a bit reactionary.  Can you just disable the ability to modify title's and DELETE threads/posts?  Modifying seems fair to keep and very useful.

Ok, modify is back but deleting is off.  If you want a to delete a post, report the post and ask to remove the post in the request.

If you see a member abusing the modify priviledge, (i.e.  erasing all text and leaving ...) report the post and I'll look into it.   Every once in a while there is a member that doesn't abide by forum rules.  That causes me to make things more stringent for everyone.  I can't be on the forum all the time and I don't have time to read every post.

Please assist me in the manner above and I'll continue to allow members to modify their own posts.

Regards,
Joe

Thank you, DBG.  That seems like a reasonably compromise.  You do run a good board here!

The above was ONLY for non paying members if I understood this correctly.
I can understand if a member do not want to become a modest paying one, but since that is your decision, then you should also understand the issues the board faces as stated by DBG.
That been said the modify only feature been re instated for them is a good move.

Ha. I forgot I was a supporting member.

I believe you're right though and you make a very valid point.

(although I'm not sure what the problem is with a user removing their own post.)

I know on another forum they have it set up so that you can only modify your post for XX number of minutes after the original post.  That might work out better for this situation.
