Mod Meet this year - Thanks for your support. It's back on.
« on: February 05, 2013, 06:43:55 AM »
I switched to Gov't last September and took a $1800 pay cut to do that.  Then the OASDI(Social Security that I'll never see) increase in January took another $140 a month and now with sequestration looming, I'm going to be taking a huge pay cut.  1 day a week for 22 weeks.  That is a nearly an $8000 loss. :cloud:

Joe
I hear ya. We are seeing the effects as well. Each day it seems money is pull, moved and reallocated to try to band aid the holes. My tracking spreadsheets have tracking spreadsheets. This October is going to be real nervous time for us as the rumors are swirling about the elimination if many if our core contracts.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best for you. Once things square up for you, we will be about 6 months behind.

Wow that really sucks Joe on so many levels, but I think we all understand.

Has Critter moved to Florida yet?  If he hasn't sold his place maybe we could just squat there for a MM.

Sorry that things are going bad for you now Joe and the economy may be phasing down as unemployment is edging up.  Tough times indeed but we will all make it through this and just have to remain positive even when your dobber is down.  The sun will still come up, we have family, home, friends, and hope for the future.  Surely things will improve...

Joe, that sucks big time, and I believe we will all feel it one way or the other.  Having just retired I took a massive paycut as well, but I did have plenty of time to plan for the change.  Sorry guys I don't have the space nor the neighbors to be able to do this wonderfull thing Joe has been doing, nor would I try, as nothing could compare.

 :(   :cloud:  :sorry:

Joe, I am terribly sorry but can relate.  I am also feeling the pinch, although the civilian side is not (yet) being hit as hard as the military side () and my hit is not as bad as yours.  It's a tough time to be a Fed but I understand the reasons for it.  Hang in there.

I have tickets to the Baltimore Grand Prix again and so was not planning to go this year but a year without a MD Mod Meet is not right.  I hope something can be pulled together to support this wonderful event.

Sorry to hear about your impending troubles, although I have never attended, I am more than willing to fork $100.00 to cover some expenses.
Hope things do not get to the point of sequestration. Is time to start throwing out most of the members of the Senate and Congress of the US and put some independent people that really want to work for the people they represent. (Off of my soap box)

Joe, I'm so sorry, but you are so skilled and so talented, I know you will come up smiling.  Miss seeing everyone but god I love Florida!  In the 80's all week and low taxes.  Please don't move here from New York or New Jersey or god forbid California if you are going to vote for nanny state and raise your taxes politicians.

Joe, you would love it here and could make a fortune, very hard to find people with a work ethic.
I know I don't have one.

The Apocalypse is official.  :gaah:  Most folks understand people do what they have to do.  For the annual Mi Mod meet we've always kicked in $20 for single, $15 for couple.  However Michigan's Mod meet has always been just a one-day event and I don't think MIs attracted as many people or as far away as yours did.

Shame really with the 13s Nationals on the west coast I'm sure many will have nothing to look forward to.  However, we still have KP forum which I've gotten the impression is mostly right-coasters.

Thanks for the kind words, we will consider charging fit the event and Dee and I will look at what it will take to budget.  May reduce the days.

Here's hopin'...   :tool:

Yeah, there's no reason this has got to cost you folks a cent Joe and there aren't a lot of mods going on these days anyway, it's more of a social thing for most of us. Always nice to see what others are doing with their cars.

Please let us know what we can do to make this happen. It's always a blast and you and Dee are always gracious hosts.

If you were to shorten it up a bit I might even make it to the official closing ceremonies one of these days.   :D

Love you guys!   :ghug:

I nominate Shiny to be in charge of fund raising I hear she has a talent for that sort of thing.

If you, Dee, and the rest of the family are willing to host another MM I am sure the rest of us would be willing to pay for and help organize.  After all the MM is for all of our benefit not just because Joe has a standing bet with the neighbors about who can turn their yard into the biggest parking lot.

A properly worded Facebook campaign could raise tons.
But in all seriousness.

This sucks, more about your pay cuts.  That's alot of money to lose per month.

As far as the Mod Meet.  If we could get a fairly accurate list of costs, We could do a registration just like Nationals with a charge.
I am positive the normal participates would all chip in.

If is going to happen this year I might bring an extra set of helping hands where I was missing in the past, that means helping the ladies, yes that would mean Mrs. Kelu to attend. Also I agree with a participation tax, last year I was so embarrassed winning so many things at the raffle just because I didn't know a different way to donate.

I'm in for anything, if either SMMM gonna happen or not. This community brought me so many great moments in my life, I would like to give back.

Thank you, it's an honor for me to be able to help these people.
