I will add that changing the thermostat by itself is not fun on this car.  With having to burp it several times.  You have to pull the thermostat manifold, it's inexpensive, save your self a lot of work later and replace it.

Thank you, last time I had to change a water pump was on my 76 Sunbird.

I have been running the car trying to get it to leak, so far nothing. The other day I had a puddle now not even a drip.

You're on borrowed time Alan.
DDMWorks sells the pumps on their site and when you get the thermostat MAKE SURE you get an OEM ACDelco. Any other one will give you nothing but grief.

DDMWorks is definitely where I was going to get the parts from. I saw that they have everything the pump, thermostat and the O-rings.

Thank you guys,

Alan

Also- be sure to drill a SMALL HOLE in the ring of the thermostat. Please refer to DDM for specific drilling locations. This will speed up the burping process significantly.

Yeap, just a small little bleed hole helps out tremendously when doing the bleeding on these.

Is that why some T-stats have a small hole on the ring?

Yeap, gives them a little bleed for air to come up through. It is a little tricky on the Kappa thermostat since the space is a little tight, but we have done a lot of them now. Might need to do a video on it, since everytime we drill a bleed the system will purge all of the air the first time, usually ;)

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this but...

I'm sitting in the PHX airport with a 2.5 hour layover. I've challenged the bartender to make Rye drinks I've never had. So far I'm up 2-0

Did mine today.  It should be mentioned in the instructions that even though you drain all of the coolant out of the radiator, there is still a SIGNIFICANT amount in the system that comes streaming out when you remove the temp sensor, banjo bolt, and thermostat housing.  I swear I soaked up more antifreeze off the floor with paper towels than I caught in drain pans.

Also it sort of stings when you get dex-cool in your eyes. :(

Also, I pulled my cat as well, but not the turbo.  I was able to get the water pump out through the bottom (between turbo and frame) in two pieces... and the new one back in through the same route.

How many miles were on the car when the pump let go? I know I'm on borrowed time with mine.

I replaced Dee's at about 58K.  I'm on 60k since my last change with 107k on the car.
