Remember, installation and THEN beer. Copious amounts!  :D

I remember working on a friends computer a few years ago. We had had too many before we even started. We had a nasty virus to get rid of and I won't go into the details but suffice to say, it wasn't pretty!   :cryin:

I modified your title to match the equipment that came in.  Looked it over, everything is there except Ipod adapter

Don't forget the pictures as this is the next big mod that I plan on doing. The 8120 is the one that I was looking at.   You have to get an additional cable for the Ipod?

Has anyone checked to see if the 812 and the separate nav unit would fit? The two units would the same functionality but would take up more room under the dash. Don't think there's much room under there.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cHEBIrWCckl/p_113IP300V/Kenwood-KCA-iP300V.html?tp=120

Currently out of stock on CrutchField

Right.  They told me mine would ship around the 23 Dec.  MERRY CHRISTMAS for me  :woohoo: :D

Thanks for the thread update Joe.  When I started it I was looking at the 5120 and 7120, but then I got an offer I couldn't refuse -- someone else paid.

Hey, it's 1/2 the price of Crutchfield for the same part on eBay, makes for a saving for about $6 after shipping.  I was told the same thing for an adapter on Crutchfield that the receive/ship date was next week and next week and next week, then the item went to no longer carried  :gaah: I hope the same thing doesn't happen to you.

I haven't seen that unit in person, but I'm almost sure it will NOT fit back there.  There was barely enough space for the D3 when I did my install and most double din units are roughly the same size.  You may be able to be creative and put the extra hideaway unit under the armrest or behind a seat or something.  I highly doubt it will fit behind the dash though.

I installed the Kenwood 5120 for Chuckdoc as well as the AVIC-D3 following your thread.  I don't think the 8120 will be much different.

Grant/Joe,
I've been seriously considering this Kenwood radio.  Let me know which one you end up with.  My assumption is that you are having the backup camera installed also.  This was going to be my next project for Joe to do at the next mod meet if I can raise the cash.  Let me know where you buy it, cost, and all the peripherals that are required.  You can PM me if you want to.

2008 Brazen GXP, nicknamed FALCON because they fly at high speeds, change direction quickly, and dive at speeds that exceed 200 mph making them the fastest-moving creatures on earth.

MagnaFlow Cat Back Performance Exhaust
GMPP Stage II Tune
JPM custom console, seat belt loops, shifter & boot
Deepblue turn signal mod

I see Joe beat me to it [surprise surprise surprise] There are better "deals" out there, but a friend who does Kenwood warrant work in VA Beach gave me two bits of advice: the 8120 is the way to go [if you have $$] as they have very little warranty work on them BUT to get it from an authorized dealer, not one who buys them and puts them on Ebay/Amazon at a significant discount -- they are usually either rebuilds or Kenwood sold them as OEM and will not honor the warranty.  When you start to look seriously we'll talk...

The 8120 has built in BlueTooth, two USB port, Sub Preamp out and 7 speaker preamp outs
The 5120 has 1 USB port, 4 preamp outs and you need an external bluetooth device.
