Rear Spoiler Removal
« on: March 21, 2013, 03:39:04 PM »
Is the GXP's rear spoiler easy to remove? I did a quick search and did not see removal so I was wondering if anyone has done it. Or if you have a link that would be aprreciated!

Haven't done it, but I remember seeing that it is held on with double-sided tape as well as posts+holes in the trunk lid.  So not particularly easy.

I took a look at it and it doesn't appear to be easy access to the area the posts would be.

Sorry I misspoke above, I meant to say holes in the bumper.  Seem like you have to take the bumper off first.  Ugh.

Joe will know.  He removed his and replaced it with a custom one.  PM him.  Not sure if he has photos/video or not, but he can answer your question.

I don't typically post links to the other forum but that is where my spoiler removal is documented.

Thanks Joe. It looks like quite the undertaking... I wanted to remove it so I could do a better job of painting it black (plasti-dip for now to see how it looks) but I think I will just use lots of masking tape and spray it in place . If I like the way it looks then I'll remove it to get a proper paint job. Also I am considering a different style spoiler but not sure at the moment.

I still wouldn't remove it for painting.  It's easy to mask.

It is quite the undertaking.  Joe is correct.  Mask and newspaper it
It will be easier

Masking wins! Now if the wind would just die down. March is very windy in Vegas.
