2013 Southern Maryland Mod Meet - Fundraising
« on: April 02, 2013, 07:49:14 AM »
As has happened in many households around the country, money is getting a little tight in the Barton home. Instead of canceling the Mod Meet altogether, after a lot of whining and coaxing from us, Joe & Dee kindly agreed to host SMMM10!  (It is 10 right?)

Many people don't know that Joe & Dee spend a lot of money behind the scenes preparing this fantastic event every year. One of the things they do is arrange a fun and definitely useful raffle. Throughout the year Joe spends money out of his own pocket when he sees sales and picks up items that are useful and/or handy to have for our kappas.

This year we'd like to help him pay for these items so the raffle can continue and we can help supplement electric, food and other miscellaneous costs (paying off the neighbors ;) ) involved with hosting this event.

If you would like to help out Joe & Dee please send a check payable to "Joe Barton" to his home (Joe please post your address, I can't remember the house #)

OR you can send money via paypal to   kappammevents@gmail.com

Make sure you mark it as "gift" and include your forum name in the note section please so we know who you are.

Several of you have donated $100 (not a requirement) if you can't make a large donation, any amount you can send is appreciated. It all adds up and it all helps. Maybe you can send a little now and a little more closer to the event. Whatever you can give will help Joe buy raffle prizes, but most importantly it will enable all the Kappa freaks to have another awesome Mod Meet!

This is number 10, the first several were twice a year until they became to big to manage twice a year.  That's why this is #10 where as the kappa has only been around for 7 years.  (wow, 7 already)

btw, huge THANKS to those of you who have already donated.

Can we maybe get a list of those that have donated?  Sort of a confirmation that funds have gotten to who they were supposed to.  I don't think we need to make it public how much was donated just that a payment was received.

I have a list of names through paypal but it's of names and not forum names so it doesn't help as I don't know everyone's full name. However, it would be helpful if whoever has donated could send me a PM with their full name and I will gladly confirm their donation was received.

I agree, donations do not need to be nor should be made public. I don't feel a running list of names is appropriate either, people should feel comfortable donating anonymously and not being put on the spot to donate.  I will happily provide the list of donors to DBG though.

I agree with SHiNY. A list can be provided to Joe if needed. Some folks do not wish to be recognized for their gifts. That's great! (Just assume any anonymous gift is from me :) )

I can't wait for this event. I am planning a few extra curricular activities this year that will make this trip even better. PAttentially a side trip may be involved to spend some time with an ogre and a dwarf in fairy tale land.

PM's will work.  Oh and if the IRS is watching this please be sure to note that GJ will be paying all income tax related to this fundraising effort.

PAYPAL there is the ability to send a note with the gift donation.
I think SHiNY needs to look into what has already been received and see what the notes said.

Dear Sir you assume I'm an amateur!?!?

I did that but not everyone filled out the note section. There are at least two people I'm not sure of who they are.

When GJ donates to KP there's no way he can add two many zeros unless it's after the decimal point.
