Looking for GXP fog lights
« on: April 28, 2013, 05:16:18 PM »
Anybody got any fogs laying around?

Anybody (and by that I mean TomatoSoup) know how easy / hard it would be to wire these to work in my garage off of the standard house power?
(SA- I am creating a memorial to the garage with parts of the car... Or vice Versa, I hope you can appreciate the irony)

The lights would be 12v, if we know the amperage then you just need to find a properly rated transformer to power them, should be pretty simple.  If you know what bulbs are used we should be able to figure out the amperage part.

I believe they are 35 watts each so 35/12=2.92 amps

Why not just use a 110 volt vacuum cleaner (appliance) bulb to light it and you woułdn't have to worry about a transformer. Like one of these.

Do vacuum cleaners have blinkers?

Just kidding.

Ok, good info. Time for work to begin.

Hey, I try to work at least 3 hours a day!

I did this:

It's a whole lot more impressive when you know what it looked like when I started, but I can't find that picture.

Hmmm... a case of beer you say? It certainly would help make doing laundry more entertaining.
Thanks for the tip GJ. I'll try that next laundry day.

Hmmm. That might work.
The fog lights in where they belong and then speakers in the center grills...

SA- where are we with the recessed grills?  I need to know the backspacing for the woofers...

They are right after finish restoring the TR7, replace entrance door to the garage, no Kappa was injured for that one, finish the deck, paint and drywall work in the house, cast numerous plastic parts for customers that are now about 2 years behind, and possibly something else that I have forgotten.

So next week sometime correct?

You are on the same schedule as the shop doing my wheels.  We are at the 4 week mark and they are now in prep for re-finishing.  The 2 wheels that needed to be straighten were done 2 weeks ago.  Maybe in another two weeks they will be ready
