Chicklets

Howdy folks! :)

How do you remove them? Loosen them with something that dissolves the glue on the backing? (I'm assuming they're glued on, right?)

For some odd reason, they're bugging me right now..  :idk:

They are held on with a piece of double sided foam tape.  You can take a piece of fishing line or even dental floss and loop it behind them and then sort of saw through the tape.  Then use something like bug and tar remover to remove the remaining part of the tape on the car.

 :yay:

Thank you. I know what you mean!  :D

I use WD40 alot to remove labels and glue. I guess I could use that since I have no bug/tar remover, right? Then wash the area and shine it up.

Merci beaucoup Sol :)

OMG!!! Don't take them off!  The entire car is held together by those two small GM squares!!  Things will begin the randomly fall off, the differential will start leaking, lights will start to flicker, your gas mileage will go to Hell.........and the worst thing.....this shows up in their place

Yeah I guess WD40 would work too.

Good thing I still have them on my car because there is no way I am having a Miata in my garage.

   >> MomsSol

I looked at them again and decided not to remove them. I don't know why they were bugging me so much today. I think I need to go for a spin.  :drive:

Use plastidip and paint them black. They will never bug you again, and no risk of a miata attack.

get rid of em. I left mine off a while back.... as a matter of fact, I have all my OEM badges removed except for the saturn badge on the tail end.

Makes your life SO much easier when washing the car. One swipe vs having to get in there and clean around them. I have them sitting in a box brand new, and I have zero interest in putting them back on the car.

Just read diluted Vodka vodka (hic) also works to remove adhesive.  http://www.ehow.com/how_4556886_cleaning-vodka.html

It works as a paint remover too,if it's regurgitated.

The Chix are easy to remove without having to resort to floss or WD40 (might have to try the Vodka method though... oh, wait, you mean the Vodka goes on the CAR?)

Anyway, just get them warm (sunny day, or hair dryer) and lever them off slowly with your nails and fingertips. Warning: DON'T let the opposite side edge (away from the edge you are levering) touch the paint.  Just put a piece of cardboard under that edge to protect the car finish.  If you go too fast and the foam sticky backing doesn't come off in one piece, trying rolling/rubbing it off with a fingertip, else then resort to the WD40/GooGone/Vodka.

IMO the wash/ emblem cleanup time was worth it to me. I wipe over the bumper and im done. Those who have emblems have to bust out the little brushes to get the soot out of the letters.

My car shows the soot fairly quickly, so I find myself washing it a lot. This shaving of most of the badges really cuts down on the time to clean and makes the car look more docile. I get a lot more people wanting to play now that the badges that say TURBO are off the back ;)... not that I ever race on the streets.

Removing my GM chicklets today. Dissapointed that GM has not recalled our Kappas to replace the passenger seat sensor.
