Old Domoinion POCI Show
« on: September 17, 2013, 09:13:46 PM »
The Old Dominion Chapter (Richmond, VA area) of POCI hosted it's 25th annual BOPC show this past weekend. I'm proud to announce that Rogue was the first place winner of the Solstice class!

Yes, folks. Pat (GXPsy) and I are still around. Unfortunately some health issues (all minor, mostly) have kept me away from the auto circuit the past two years. That, and my band, which got back together about 6 months ago has enjoyed a rush of popularity and we have been very busy playing jobs. But....that's another story for another day. Back to cars, boy did it feel good to be healthy and out on a show field again!

Well, let's see....the last time Pat and I were active was right around the time of my heart surgery. Since then, I stepped on a yellow jacket nest doing yard work, was stung 65+ times (we stopped counting welts) and tore my groin muscle hurdling a retaining to flee the attack, suffered a severe flareup of piriformis syndrome (irritation of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle), had prostate surgery for BPH, surgery for bilateral inguinal hernia repair, a colonoscopy, and repair of severe cartilage damage in the right hand first thumb joint. Plus Pat had a total thyroidectomy and has a real tough time with medication dosages to compensate. Sometimes she's not a very nice person, and it bothers her 'cause she knows it and can't do anything about it (or at least that's her story - I wonder). Sometimes I believe we keep the local hospital open all by ourselves. The good news is, I'm staying active in the cardio program at the clinic there and have lost 12 lbs, trimmed over 2" off my waist, have maxed the weight bench there and consistantly record BP in the 125/75 range and keep my pulse near 55 resting. Oh, it's amazing what all those surgeries will do for your modesty. I have none at this point!

Item of interest from the show. Several people advised me of the collector status of my car. They were telling me models like Rogue (GXP, black, 5 spd, coupe, 4000 miles) are going for $35K+ right now. I haven't been following the market. Is that accurate? One guy kept asking if I wanted to sell. I told him everyone has his price, what was he offering? Seems he's looking for a fire sale deal. I doubt he'll find one. Not as rare as this one is. Good luck to him!

Thanks LV. So far everything seems to be going ok. We keep hoping the past year was just an anomaly, not a glimpse of the future!

I'll give you $20 right now!!!

You need to add a few (no, a lot) more zeroes to get my attention.

However, we do appreciate your sentiment. Thank you.

Congrats Rogue! I was the guy with the Yellow Solstice (3rd place) and the Yellow Fiero Formula (1st place!). Your car is awesome. I particularly like your wheels and tires.

Antics is correct. The Old Dominion POCI show was Sunday, Sept 25, 2016. There were 4 very nice Sols there. A tough class to judge this year. Antics showed a very nicely detailed mean base. There was also a deep GXP and a pure GXP (came in from the Roanoke area). Rogue did take first, but I'm pretty certain the voting this year was close.

Antics - thanks for the nice comments. They're appreciated.
