I've been working with Rich Santana to develop billet center caps our "stock" GM wheels. The center cap will be anodized black or polished aluminum or Chrome.I believe the diameter is 2 3/16" The caps would have bolts that thread into the cap from behind the wheel so they can't be stolen.
A set of 4 would be less than $90 and a small additional charge for graphic designs to be laser engraved on.
This thread is to gage interest. If you have any questions, ask.

I like the Idea but I have after market wheels as do alot of people .
-
I like the idea, and would be interested.

I am interested also.

You could get me a set if that would make you feel better.

Let me think about it!
-
Joe, would he make them a different size for someone that had aftermarket wheels? Maybe this would be a good way to get a Pontiac logo or something different on a set of wheels that weren't originally on the car.
-
Depending on what exactly we could get for custom engraving I would be interestred too.
-
Let me think about it!
thought about it and the answer is a resounding NO

What is the diameter of your center cap? email me some photos of the cap and front and back of the wheel
-
I might be interested.
-
I'm aftermarket too but DBG don't you have the J2/Monarchs too? I have the Monarch crown on mine. I wouldn't mine having the Pontiac arrow or the Indian logo in polished aluminum.

No, over a year ago I went back to the new 2009 split 5 fork GM wheel

let me know when you guys get to about 15 sets and i'll get them on the machine. you'll need to pay for them up front, but once they are on the machine, it will only be a week or two out. oh yeah, did i mention we could anodize different colors as well? red and orange are freaking beautiful if you polish them first and then anodize. looks like candy. then laser them. SWEET.
-
Joe, I might be in touch for a custom set as well...I have a set of wheels that I have been needing to find center caps for.
-
I am interested. When you have the final details about options and options pricing send it along. I have the stock OEM wheels...
-
If you're going to the trouble of a production run why not something more useful like adjustable antiroll bar endlinks or delrin bushings?
-
Okay, so I did a preliminary fit of the prototype. Fit absolutely killer!! So with that said, it looks like there are about 14 sets counted for. So, they are 89.00 a set. That has the finish option of clear polished anodized, black anodized, and polished. As far as chrome, we will quote out for that and get back to you. My choice for the silver stock wheels would be clear polished anodized. It will offer more protection than straight polished. As far as logo's or graphics, send me your ideas and let's talk!! We are open to all suggestions.
These caps come with bolt and washer for theft protection and have an O-ring for snug, centered fit. 10.00 shipping in Continental US. International is 20.00
If you want a set of caps, email me at sales@santanainteriors.com and I'll get you on the list.
-
Rich,
Can you post a photo of the back of the cap?
Thanks
Joe

Here you go!!

I think I'm gonna jump on board as well. I have Santanas Billett cupholder and that is great.

We've been wondering about that for a while now too.

So, they can be color anodized + custom engraved, and then polished to look like color chrome?
-
how ever he does his magic. Just like the cup holder. I know he does ,Polished and Black Anodized . don't know if they do other colors.
-
Hey there. Here are your options.
1. Polished, we can then engrave with black image.
2. Black anodized, then image is off white-ish.
3&4. Color anodized-Red & Blue are standard options, with images in white-ish.
When we anodize colors (black included), we like to polish the cap first. It gives the color a real pop, very 'candy apple' looking. I am waiting on anodizer to get me some caps, but they are off this week. I'll post some shots of different samples. As far as images, pretty much anything goes.
A bmp or jpg file works awesome, as does an eps for special graphics. We can however do custom artwork if you don't have any.
The red & blue ano is an upcharge, not sure what it will be, as will be a small upcharge for custom artwork. I'd really like to see the Solstice/Sky guys get first shot at the custom work as they have been there for us with the cup holders. Then the idea is to hit the rest of the GM market(Camaro, G6, etc.) with the caps as they look like they are the same across the board. The Kappaperf guys will reap the discounted graphic work, as the rest of the market may see an increase in price by about 20$. We'll see how that goes. Ebay uncovers alot.
The pic attached is a sample of black anodized with white-ish writing. This piece is like 8-10 inches tall.

When I get mine , I plan on doing the Engraved area in" Red " to match the Theme of my car. Can't wait to see them
-
So, they can be color anodized + custom engraved, and then polished to look like color chrome?
Anodizing is a process where the aluminum surface has a layer of oxidation form on it. The oxidation is a micro porous surface kind of like tiny honeycombs which will absorb a dye which is how they get the different colors. The part is then sealed to hold the dye in place. You can actually oxidize the part use Sharpie markers to draw a picture and then seal that image onto the part.
Generally you do not polish a part after anodizing because you will remove the sealer and possibly the oxidation layer too.
-
Hi Sol, in regards to my previous post, we polish BEFORE anodizing. Polishing after would only muck up the ano. Again, we polish before ano. Two TOTALLY different looks between non polished ano and polished ano.
-
Lil NDN, as far as marking the engraved section in red. When we anodize the part and then laser engrave the anodize, the laser basically 'bleaches' the anodize. It doesn't remove the anodizing or get to bare aluminum. It just turns the anodizing white. You really can't 'fill in' the graphic like say a body emblem. Just want to make sure you were aware of that.
-
I think I'm going to jump in on this now too. I sent you an email with the custom graphic. Thanks.
-
Thanks Helios, I'm excited for you guys to get these. Very cool and personal mod that is reasonably priced. I have polished ones in stock to send to anodizers this week. If anybody else wants red, let me know now. The turn around time on anodizing is a week or two.
