Maybe a little too bright? How are you planning on controlling the running vs. braking vs. turning light pattern? Will you customize it?

Not too bright at all...the stock lense knocks them down a bit once you get it behind the red plexi

The owner and myself will figure out the exact setup of what will come on with running lights and brake/turn....so that will be determined once i get everything mounted.

Cartman, not to question your work, but shouldn't it be "two of a kind'?  One is going to look strange with a regular light on the other side.  Just saying.......... :poke:

That's actually not too difficult. Something like this is what I'm thinking for my (future) setup, using constant-voltage regulators and a dropper resistor for running light levels, vs. full voltage (via diode) for full (brake/turning) light levels.

Well...got some video of the setup...after some revisions...the owner and I have settled on this....I think it's pretty gnarly looking...can't wait for some free time so I can do my own set (yeah right)

Running Lights On

Running Lights On, Brake

Running Lights Off, Brake

As you can see...the only way they aren't 100% brighter than the stock bulbs is directly in front of the bulb, where the factory reflector bowl does what it's supposed to and amplifies the light source.  The LED tails are brighter in every other angle you look at it...especially when you to to the sides and the stock lighting actually goes away...the LED tails stay bright...pretty neat.

Just need to confirm a few more things...then I'll seal these up and start the other sides and I'll have finished photos!

And then we can send you our tail lights, and you will ship them back to us modified like this?  Let me guess... Two day turn around, $50 per side?  :poke:

Love them.

Damn, Cartmann, you beat me to it!  I have mine ready EXCEPT that I am waiting on MR16 3W bulbs for the centers (brake/turns only - similar to yours).  I had white LED ones, but didn't like the orangey light they put out that didn't match the pure red of my outer LEDs.  So I ordered two more red LED versions from Hong Kong.  Took 2 1/2 weeks to arrive, only to find they didn't match each other - ARGGGH!  One was nice an bright as I expected, the other was only 1/2 (or less) as bright.  Jeez.  They are supposedly sending me a new one, but now I have to wait another 2-3 weeks again.
 :banghead:

Here's a photo of the test setup (with temporary white LED MR16 bulb):

I LIKE THESE A LOT... Shame it will only be a "Two off". These would sell in mass production for OEM replacements for the cars.

Judging from the pics, the Oznium centre LED is the same one I use to light up my trunk.

Super bright for how small they are, and a single one, really lights up my trunk when it's open at night.  Makes the dim stock one obsolete . . . scratch that, makes it obvious how obsolete the stock one is.

Same ones.....i plan on using a different center next time....so they'll all be the same LEDs...no protruding mini afterburner..unless that's what peeps want

but yes...they are bright as hell....i've put 10 of the spot lights under a boat ski deck on a wake board boat and it lit up the wake about 20 ft out....amazing
