Cobalt Door Handles
« on: January 12, 2009, 12:01:13 AM »
In another thread Chemist mentioned that the Cobalt door handles were like the Solstice's.  Got my attention and started to reseach the idea and found that one of them even have the same stock number.  Checked out junk yards to the five state area around me (stock handles list for $68 and $55 no one know why the right/left are a different price).  Found a left one at Brandywine Auto Parts in MD and they will have a right one for me next week.  PHOTOS to follow.  My plan is to have these paintable versions painted to match Cheer's mysterious body.......

I looked into the same thing a while back, they were a little cheaper from Crate Engine Depot. I had hoped they would come painted, I am still planning on doing it, but of course it requires help from Joe's Garage team of Solstice specialists as they come unpainted. Just another item on my long list.

They only come gray from CED, nothing we can't fix here though.

This may be a stupid question, but why not just paint the chrome ones that are already on the car?  Won't the paint stick because of the chrome?

My paint guy said they could ruff up the chrome, but it would only be a matter of time before the fake chrome started to peel off.  This is the #1 paint shop in my area and tend to believe him.
