Fujita CAI filter replacement?
« on: May 19, 2009, 04:49:52 PM »
I got a Fujita CAI in a great trade...it was used, had 1600 miles on it.  Just had it put on last Friday.  So it is fine for now, but my question is, when do I need to change the filter?  How many miles?  And does K&N or someone else make a replacement that would improve things even more, or should I just copy the part number and replace it straight up?

Thanks!

Not knowing the filter is cleanable, I bought a couple of spares when I got mine , back oh, more than 70k miles  ago :D I've swapped the filter once, will have a look at it before hitting the road to Denver next month.

Clean, eh?  EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeentristing.  Do you know approximately how many miles before you are supposed to clean them?  And how they are cleaned?  Thanks!

A lot of miles.   Depending on whether you drive in severe or dusty conditions.  But I'd say forget about it for at least 25,000 miles or so in normal driving.

I believe Fujitas use a "dry" unoiled filter.  Good news for you, because K&Ns that require oiling can suck oil mist through the MAF and cause a code to be thrown.

This from Fujita Online:

"Cleaning the air filter is simple and can be done using soapy, lukewarm water, and let air dry. The Super Flow High Performance Air Filterâ„¢ contains a synthetic fiber that does not contain any oil.

Buy a second one, you can clean one as part of your spring cleaning, put the other one on and then do the same thing next spring
