Martin Tune
« on: January 25, 2011, 07:40:57 AM »
Does anyone know  and have any experience with the Martin tune?

I've seen it mentioned in some threads and am interested how it compares to the others.

Where is he located?

Thanks!!

If that is GMR, there are plenty of other choices including the supporting vendors.

I don't know if it is GMR or not.

Just interested if it is a good tune or not.

I am in the process of having some things done on my car and am trying to find as much info as possible on who is out there.

Do a search on the Sky and Solstice forums. In the meanwhile, Wester's is a known excellent provider, and DDM does a great job as well. Lots of people like Werks and Trifecta as well.

Am I being too subtle !!!!!!!!!!??????????? :kwh:

Houstice - everyone has opinions about everything.  I think you can gather our opinion on tunes and who we favor.  (Just in case Bob didn't make it clear enough).

So you will have to make your own opinion on who you want to go with.

lots of people dont like GMR, and his tune.

I personally have no issues with Martin, since all of my sales transactions with him went smooth.   I had a slight issue with his product before, but he made sure to correct them.

Regarding tune, I had a couple of people complained about the tune.   They were able to get more whp when another tuner tuned their cars.

I never tried GMR's tune, so I really can't say anything good/bad about it.

I only tried BSR and Wester tune before.  They were ok.

I have my own tuner for my own set-up which I'm very happy with.

GMR is no longer active with the kappa community, so I personally would go with the current ACTIVE vendors/tuners that we have.

I was just asking a simple question , not expecting    :kwh:. :)

I know about the Vendors , have purchased their products as well.

I was just curious about this tune as I have seen some mention of it on this forum.

I thank you anyway for input!! :)

Critterman,

Houstice, i have never heard of the Martin tune, so i can't be much of a help...
what i could say though is that i would prefer to have a tune from someone who has tuned quite a few  lnf's so that he has some experience and keeps on tuning these cars.
this will increase the possibilities of giving you a good tune.
i suppose it all depends on whether you want a canned tune (nothing against these) or a custom, and what extras/warranties you would like your tune to have.

have fun shopping Houstice and i hope someone here can advise you regarding the martin tune!!!

I will definetely go with one of established tuners. Just curios to this tune as I have never heard or read much about it.

I posted on this thread about some mods I am doing at the present:

Houstice...................Martin used to be VERY active with the kappa community....but slowly faded early last year.

He actually bought the Solstice Tjin Edition car from my friend Neil Tjin.

I thought that move will make him more active with the kappa community....but didn't.

I think Martin just got busy with other stuff.  I know he has a restaurant or sumthing.

From what I heard from other kappa owners......its very hard to contact him email/phone.......especially when they already bought items from him thru his website.

If you want to keep warranty intact then GMPP tune is all there is. I have it and it is not a bad tune but there is definately more hp/tq to be had if you go after market. I am going to go with Trifecta soon. Good luck.

From what I remember about the GMR tune, he basically copied one of the early tunes from Westers an started marketing it as his.  Wester put an identifier in his tune and then found a GMR tune, scanned it and saw his identifier.

This is what everyone was trying to skirt around.

Thanks for your response,

My SOL is a NA. I don't think I can use the GMPP tune.

I would not use Martin's tune. Too many people have had problems. Tammy's Sky had massive issues with his tune. She had tons of codes throwing with it. Stay away.

All of the supporting vendors here that have tunes are awesome.  I use Westers and am extremely happy and have had no issues with it.  I know many others with the DDMWorks tune and some with the Trifecta tune and they are also getting great reviews.  Any of those three would be great choices, and they support our forum here!
