Thanks John, as it's so small I don't often have anything in it.  :D

I'll start a new thread when I do the glove box lights TomatoSoup. Just waiting for the parts to come in. I would think that yes, the twin LED clusters might be a little brighter than the one that you used but I bet you can't tell the difference without a light meter.

I've been looking at underhood lighting options as well but I am not sure that subjecting a LED module that is not waterproof to that environment is such a good idea.

That water that it would be subjected to can't be good for it. Have to investigate other options...

I beleive there are ways to water proof LEDs.  Micro aquarium reef builders use them all the time.  I think they spray them with sealer.

Yes, you likely could just spray them with a clear coat of some sort. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip.

The heat's probably not good either.  I had put two of the same babies I had in my lower trunk light under the hood.  Despite hardly ever using them (they are tied to both the sidelights and a mercury switch, so don't just go on when you raise the hood) I've had three burn out, and I've given up with them.  On the other hand, the in the trunk (pictured), which gets used regularly, was the original and still works fine.  I assume it has to do with the heat in the engine bay even though the LEDs are inset in a chunk of aluminum.  Go figger.

Haven't heard any complaints about the module that DDM uses for their hood light. Hmmm... Maybe a higher quality LED cluster would handle the heat better.

Something to investigate.

Could be.  When I messaged with DealExtreme (they've refunded all of them by the way) there was some comment about an "inferior batch".  But that was on the first set of replacements :gaah:
