What are these from in-tank fuel pump
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:46:00 PM »
I have a spare in-tank fuel pump, I plan to use it in a parallel custom build tank with race gas.

The guy who will build the tank asked me if he can drop some parts from stock fuel pump and I wasn't sure what to tell him because I don't know what are those parts :(

So this is part #1 market with blue border:

Part #2 is smaller and harder to see it in this picture market with red (sorry I couldn't find a better picture), is like a lighter blue as the previous one and looks like a cylinder siphon:

Also not sure if my information is correct and I need a confirmation for connections:

orange - fuel regulator
green - fuel output hose toward high pressure fuel pump
yellow -  looks like pump power source but it has a strange part (see the picture below)
pink - not sure

the yellow is actually the in-tank MAP used for the EVAP system.

Ok, its (FTP) Fuel Tank Pressure sensor which if having problems would throw P0451,52,53 or 54

I would think not. I'm assuming you are using a vented tank, putting the vent out to the exterior of the car. I doubt the tank needs to be pressurized for the pump to function properly. >>???

Kelu my guess is that they keep the fuel tank slightly pressurized so that they can contain the fuel vapors better then if it was just vented.  The fuel system won't get vapor lock and the vapors aren't leaked to the outside air like in cars of the past.  The sensor in question is needed because if there isn't enough pressurization then fuel may not flow, vapor lock, this also why you get the check fuel cap warning.

If you tee in a new tank and have a valve that shuts off flow from the main tank then the system will just test the main tank, see that it is pressurized properly and not give you any errors.  You should be able to just vent your racing tank and have no problems.

My thoughts are same as yours SA.

Still not sure if I can give up on the 2 parts from the top and same some space.
