An update as to what Ive been thinking and doing with this. I wanted something a little more brighter for the turn signals because I do most of my driving during the daylight hours and minimal night driving. Im using elef-i amber 3w bulbs with the diffuser cap. This is all posted from over on hidplanet where I have been researching led lighting recently and can be read about here: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?46459-Worth-making-a-custom-setup

"Allright, so I decided to mess with the elef one more time. Went out did the same thing i did the first time only this time I used my hand as a makeshift reflector housing. Well, that changes everything. Off axis, the elef bulb is horrible and thats what I was judging on since I guess I was being fooled by the side leds on the 45 chip bulb making it seem brighter than it really is. On axis is a completely different situation. Yes, they say dont look into the bulb, vision impairment, yada yada but its not THAT bright. The diffuser lens probably helped out in that aspect. Anyway, that is where this bulb is more bright than the 45 chip bulb. So, that being seen. I jumped in the car and drove up to work to modify the passenger headlight to to test this bulb in its entirety. And here are the results. In all pictures/video the elef is on the passenger side and 45chip on the driver side.

Parking lights:

Turn Signal/Hazards (always tricky to catch just right):

Close up inside the housing. I have it so the base of the diffuser cover is flush with the back of the reflector. I like that you can barely tell its there. Had to use the flash in order to see anything in the picture:

And the back of the light. I also like how the heat sink is entirely open. Only need to seal it up with some silicone and support the back and itd be good to go:

Closing statements. I am very pleased with the way this will eventually turn out when I get a second bulb. My only beef is the off-axis performance where if your standing by the car and the lights are on, you really dont see much. But the main thing I wanted was brighter light from the turn signal seen further in the distance in direct sunlight and thats what I got. Now, time to order up the other bulb."
