I have the same problem.  The next time I have my car torn apart, I'll look at the mechanism to see if there is a way to increase the spring tension.

Dick W:

I thought I had the same problem until I was familiar with the car.  On mine, I found the latch hardware at the end of the belt would catch on the side of the seat and not allow for full retraction.  What I did was lower the chrome latch beyond the strap stop on the belt and that fixed the problem.  It also made it easier to get to the latch instead of the need to reach back and grab it.  The space between the seat back and the latch in its the normal full retraction location offers very little room to reach it.   :2c:

I'm used to it now. It was a problem when I first got my car.

If I had/have a problem, I didn't know as I had been driving the same truck for 15 years & seat belts on our TR6 always were PITA (even more so now) before I bought my sol

Well actually no and yes.  It never came with seat belts and in Illinois they are not required if the car was made before '65.  Currently it doesn't have seat belts, or floor boards for that mater, but I do have some aviation seat belts that I got from work which most likely will find their way into the car.  So for right now they are real easy to buckle given that they are just sitting on a shelf.

As for my belts in the Solstice since I have the seats back as far as they will go its never been a problem finding the belt, and I have never had them get hung up on anything as they retract.

My seatbelt seems to be fine.  My gf complains about the passanger seat belt locking up whenever she tries to move around.  She actually got mad enough the other day to actually say "i hate your freaken seat belt!" haha.

But as for me, I usually return the seat belt by hand anyway.  I dont want the belt buckle damaging any part of my interior.

On a side note, dont you guys hate it when you accidentally scratch your steering wheel?? About 2 or 3 times now have my nails scraped my steering wheel.  If i looked hard I would probably barely notice it but it still kills me every time it happens.

Either stop gripping the steering wheel so tight.....aka "white knuckle grip"  Or trim your nails shorter
You did mean fingernails?..or is it your toenails hitting the steering wheel when you put your feet in?
either way.......just trim the nails shorter   :D
j/k   ;)
