Any experience of using G2 caliper paint in metallic colors?
« on: January 13, 2010, 11:47:05 AM »
I posted this on "the other" forum and got bupkiss by way of response, so maybe you guys can help?

I've used G2 caliper paint before in the red solid color and been very happy with the results it gives as well as the longevity.  This time I'm thinking of doing my Solly's calipers in gold, but am a bit wary of how the metallic effect will turn out when brushed on.

So, before I go further, I wanted to ask for any experiences that anyone has had in doing calipers in G2 silver or gold metallic and how it came out.

Thanks!

I haven't tried them but odds are they would come out silver or gold. As far as caliper paint goes this is the only brand I would use, my guess no matter how they come out silver or gold it will be better than anything else you could find.

EDIT: Just googled G2 caliper paint.  I know everthing now.  Sorry for being a lazy ass.

Sure I agree :)
Point is... does the metallic come out nicely, or would I be better off sticking with solid color?

TS,  find another piece of cast and paint it first.  That will give you an idea.

The issue is that the G2 paint is a two-part mix, and it doesn't take long to cure after that. Since it's not the cheapest paint around that would be an expensive test.

Yeah... what Heavy Metal said!  Paint costs $45-$50 + shipping.
