RK Sport front bumper on GXP
« on: August 10, 2010, 08:25:06 PM »
Has anyone installed an RK Sport front bumper on their GXP?  I really like the look but see it listed only for the NA.  I see that Performance Autowerks has it installed on their coupe and Dave Gilbert said it was not that hard to install but that I'd obviously loose the fog lights/turn signal and brake cooling ducts.  If you have one installed could you please let me know how you incorporated these items.  Thanks.

A guy on the other forum mounted his factory turn signals right behind the left and right vents.

GJ,
I currently have Norm's front splitter on my car but....  it is in the shop for the second time for repair.  The first incident I made the mistake of letting my wife drive my car to work and she pulled to far into the spot and  :censor: .  I got it repaired at a local body shop a month ago and it cost as much to repair it then buying it new from Norm again, the only cost savings was in the shipping.  Now for this incident took the car in to my local dealer for a bad bank 2 O2 sensor.  They brought the car up front to me after the repair and I always look over it before I leave.  As  I made my way to the front noticed a gouge in the center of the splitter, as I looked closer I could see the spider web throughout the paint and two cracks on each side along with some blue paint.  Oh and guess what color the lifts are???  You guessed it, blue.  They are repairing it but it's frustrating because I always remind them that the car is lowered and there is a body kit on it so they have to be careful; never had a problem with them in the past.  This is why I'm looking in to the RK front bumper.  Since it is not made out of fiberglass I'm hoping it might hold up a little better.

Lithium Lotus, thanks for the pic and the info.

Mark,

All that sucks!  Hope the repair come out well, but the new one looks great too!  You could also look at doing the blinkers / parking lights in LED's and tying them in to the shape of the openings, rather than tucking them behind.  Just a thought since LED's are getting easier and easier.  Could look super trick if done right.

See you around 11 am?

I found these LED driving lights that look like they'd fit the rectangle indention (downside no turn signal).  But yeah any driving lights/turn signal assembly should try and match the rectangle design instead of using the stock round lights and calling it a day.

Those could be wired to be both driving lights and turn signals very easily.  DBG has a post about the side marker lights, but these would work exactly the same way.

All thanks for the info.

Did Gunny happen to mention what difficulty he had?  I'll see if I can get in touch with him.
