Wade's Garage, Look in google for SolBra (Solstice Cobra)

I googled the Solbra, and am now in love...again.  :woohoo: How much does one of these engine installs cost? I'm not too thrilled about any of the body kit (I like Norms mucho mas) but that Vette engine gets the blood moving...

23K plus your car.  Then there are the options on top of that.  If I had my choice, I'd do the LSA from the CTS-V.  One of the best engines on the market right now IMO.  I am working on the AWD kit for the Kappa to get the power down.  It will be an advanced AWD system that will allow for some fun, but still keep the power going where it needs to go.  Add the 6 speed flappy paddle gear box and it'll be good to go.  Besides, what a 100K between friends?

Ack ack ack... sorry that was my heart fibulating....a hunderd K???!!! Yikes! However, I wonder if there's much difference between this engine swap, and Mallot Bros, or the Performance Autowerks one?

Sorry DW805 - the 100K was an exageration.  I looked up on their website for pricing when the link first came up.  23K gets the base upgrade.  Pretty substantial, but not the "King".  I think it's an LS3.  The top of the line everything with the 6 speed auto would top out around 30-33 K on top of your car if I recall.  Even if you bought the car brand new (say $20K for a loaded NA) and dropped $30K into it, there isn't a car that could touch it for $50K.  Certainly not another convertible.  Now, if you wanted to go used cars, plus the upgrades, that's a whole other story.  The list is endless.

$50 K just doesn't go that fast anymore.  and before anybody tells me that the new honda accord has more horsepower than a 69 Z28, I know that.  I mean relative to the current market.

Either way, you and I both know what happens if either one of us does this conversion.  I'd be way better off than you from what I've heard, prisons in Mexico are brutal compared to the ones here in the US. :)

The only hood mod I can see looking right on our cars is a ZR1 style fascia grill mod/cowl induction combo.
http://www.carblog.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/corvette-zr1-detroit.jpg

However, the Sols already has a subtle \  / shape stamped into the hood.  So why not either raise the \  / shape about an inch, or at the very least design a fiberglass cowl induction that works with those lines and not against them.  (that means; \\  // and not \ l l /).

The ZR1 fascia mod would at least seem to get more air closer to the cold air induction kits that folks like, and I've wondered if you could get a wrecked urethane fascia and just weld in the ZR1 scoop into the Sols fascia with a urethane welding rods kit.

ah ha!  I knew someone would bring that up... that's why I included this statement:

" Now, if you wanted to go used cars, plus the upgrades, that's a whole other story.  The list is endless."  :poke:

You could buy a $5K Civic and dump 30K in to it and make it plenty fast!  Not that I would....

Choptop,

Wow.  Great vid.  Never seen that process.  I don't know how well it would work to fuse to separate pieces together, but if it's that strong on a crack, perhaps it would work for what you are thinking?  Either way, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Yeah somehow I missed that statement when I read your post...

When I bought my Sky I was allergic to used cars..several people told me to get a used vette but I didn't listen. Then the resale value of our cars when down the drain and I got over my allergy...

yeah, I gave up on new cars a long time ago.  I did take advantage of the cash for clunkers debocale, but that was a special circumstance.  Used is the way to go for those of us that change cars a lot or change our cars (mods).  Most of the certified pre owned programs now are as good or better than new warranties!

Whoa, I just realized I have no idea what topic we are supposed to be on.... let me read back a bit and see how to get back on topic....

Hoods.  Oh yeah, hoods.  No you can't simply swap the Sky hood on to the Solstice or vice versa.  Other than that, just call Norm.
