You can first try to look-see by popping-off the chrome shifter trim-ring (around the shift boot). VERY GENTLY, pry up the trim ring at the bottom and sides (work back and forth around the ring) with something like a plastic putty knife, or even your fingernails. NOTE: don't mar the trim paint, and go CAREFULLY - it's easy to break off the clip tabs on the trim ring.
Once unclipped, pull the ring and boot up over the shift knob, then feel or look in the space around behind the 12V socket to see if the connector's loose or off. If it is, and you can't work it back on with just the trim ring off, then post back for directions on lifting the boomerang.
