Need help with AXXESS SWC and non- monsoon
« on: January 04, 2012, 12:39:51 PM »
I'm getting close to just lighting a match and letting go....

My car came with the base crap stereo.  I am in the process of installing a pioneer 8000BT head unit, with an amp, and new speakers.  Everything is in place, almost ready to begin putting the car back together.  But I can't get my steering wheel controls to work.  I have the AXXESS ASWC unit.  It auto detects according to the LED, but the controls do not work.  I think I have it wired wrong, but every time I read and reread the instructions, it is correct.  I'm guessing the instructions are off.  Does anybody remember what wires they tapped in to where?  I have searched the forum, and found some info, but no one goes in to detail about wire locations or colors.  Should I be splicing in to the factory wiring or in to the wiring in the GM LAN adapter?  I have tried searching google, the AXXESS website and crutchfield with no luck.  I don't really use the SWC much, but I don't want to have to explain to the next buyer that I was too lazy to wire in an adapter.
As it is right now, the volume will automatically climb to 100% when playing a CD.  No idea why.  If I disconnect the adapter, the rest of the system works perfectly.  Any help is appreciated.

Ok, got it.  Between trial and error, and Morfious' post about his installation, I was able to get it figured out.  If anyone is using the axxess ASWC, I will try to help.

Not sure if this helps but Crutchfield advertises: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-44BjVL1uqx2/p_120ASWC/Axxess-ASWC.html?tab=detailed_info#details-tab

Scroll down to enter information under; will it fit my vehicle for Axxess ASWC kit/harness application

Glad you got it going Steve. The interface that I bought was DOA and I spent days at the mod meet trying to get it going. It was only after marathon phone calls to the vendor and the manufacturer that we finally gave up and they mailed me a new one. The new one was installed and working in a few minutes.

Looking forward to our trip to San Diego this summer.
Just trying to do my part...
