GMTechs Supercharged LSA V8 Build Vid
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:37:36 AM »
Very nice video showing GMTechs engineering, machining, and building skills of removing a blown LNF out of his SKY and replacing it w/a Cadillac Supercharged LSA V8, along w/installing a boatload of other stuff to make it work.  Good job GMTech, and btw, nice mancave.

Enlarge screen, and be ready to pause to look at certain shots, and mute or lower volume.  The tire signature scene at the end of the vid is particularly cool.

What an incredible build his attention to detail  is unbelievable ! I have heard  much about this car and have seen a few pictures of it and to follow this build just justifies what has been said about John and his car  :brnout:

Beautiful build.  He has some mad skills, too bad he seems so arrogant towards others on the forums.

This is awesome! really cant wait to see more of it! Did you make 550whp? If so how did you last that long on stock internals? lol I'm on a s200sx at 24psi making 425whp and I'm not moving it one more psi until build motor. haha because of being afraid of bending rods. whether you made 550whp or 550 crank hp it still comes out to more than 425whp which is like yikes on stock internals! lol

???

You do realize the stock internals of an LSA are slightly different than the stock internals of an LE5 or LNF, right?  I mean LSA is a supercharged V8 and LNF is a turbocharged and direct-injected inline 4-cylinder.

Other than that, though, they're practically identical  :D

Oh, and GMTech has been banned from a few fora because he doesn't play nice with others on-line.

Still, though, you HAVE to respect his work!

I don't know, he doesn't respect others why do we HAVE to respect his work?  It's not like he's the only one that can do custom work on a car.

He has always steered me in the right direction when Ive asked for some help in tuning.
He wont just give you the answer typically he wants you to do trial and error just like he has done but he will tell you don't do something or be very careful if you could possibly blowup your engine.

You forgot something, STOCK LNF making 550HP  the only option would be with 200hp nitrous shot  :poke:

I bet this was posted in Caddy forums where nobody knows about LNF  around here, not so easy to believe, I wonder how many "stock" engines that car had:
- first one which was blown before him becoming an active member of the forums
- rebuild with aftermarket parts / called race engine sold to a racing team
- stock one which hold 550hp before installing LSA

All info came from gmtech posts around there forums, sorry I didn't read the other forums in last 2 years to know more  :D

For what it's worth I know John has an issue with Performance Auto Werks and to me that's between the both of them from my experience with them his issues seem justified . I have found him to be helpful to the community with all his knowledge and have corresponded with him via email and he has always been a decent guy . He is a true craftsman and as I stated  in an earlier post his attention to detail is incredible maybe a little arrogant to some but that's his personality .

All emotions aside, the guy has superior skills and his install is outstanding. I, nor should anyone, take away from that. His personality and the way he conveys his message(s) are an entirely different matter, IMO. I've had a side bar with him explaining that he doesn't need to bash other people to look good. His work speaks for itself AND it speaks VOLUMES. Viewing his work alone, I would jump at the chance to work with him or pay him to do work for me. However, when his personality got thrown into the mix, I had my reservations. But I think I would still let it slide because I'm not one to let my feathers get ruffled so easily.

I agree.

I posted it because of the car.  Period.  I also wish I had half of everyone's mechanical and engineering knowledge.

I'm not trying to "shit" on anyone.

I happened to be on the forum when he came back from a temporary ban and he made the post that caused the now permanent ban.  The post wasn't up for long, maybe just a few minutes so probably only a hand full got to read it.  It wasn't a case of just a small misunderstanding and he just crossed a line.  Rather he tried to go as far past that line as he could and intentionally get banned.  His lack of respect was for more than just a vendor but the forum as a whole.

Threads that praise him just stroke his ego and empower him and his attitude of superiority.  I find it in bad taste when those kind of threads pop up on a forum he has such disdain for.

DBG and his team have done a pretty good job of moderating this forum and Joe is not the type of person to go so far as pulling threads because they praise a former forum member that was so disrespectful but if he did so with this guy, I wouldn't blame him.

Out of respect for this forum and Joe it would be nice if posts here about this guy would stop.

All emotions aside, he blew up his LNF engine.  3 out of 4 rods and played that off as not being a blown engine.

Therefore I don't agree with him having superior skills.

I will take Dave@DDM's tuning and Terminator2's tuning over GMTech any day of the week.
and
Both will do it without the B.S. God complex that this[GMTECH] douche bag exhibits.

There are lots of people that do awesome work but also turn out to be total a-holes.  Frank Lloyd Wright was by all accounts a petulant douchebag.  In spite of that, he is the most celebrated American architect, though, because his WORK was amazing.

For the record, I'm not saying that GMTech is the FLW of Kappas.  I'm just trying to illustrate that someone's interpersonal relationship skills have nothing to do with their craftsmanship (and vice versa).

Look at athletes and celebrities.  Many of those who are most celebrated for their accomplishments coincidentally are absolute dicks.  But I'm not a sports guy or a movie buff.  I'm a "car guy."  I can appreciate the craftsmanship in this project, despite knowing that the guy who built is has a bad reputation on the fora I frequent.
