Oil Gallery Porting
« on: February 12, 2015, 01:09:05 PM »
My car is out at DDM with a grenaded 2.4 engine. I'm getting a stage 2 SC+ put on it (Rotrex C30-94 intead of the Magnuson), long tube header, hi flow cat & Solo exhaust. The engine is getting Wisco pistons & K1 rods. While it's getting rebuilt, I want to have the head/exhaust ported. Have any of you had the oil galleries done?

Just want to make sure since we've had 2 cars in TX with a SC blow up with damage to the #3 or 4 piston that showed signs of oil starvation. The ooofficial explaination was clogged cat and stock pistons that let go. I want to have this thing built as bullit proof as I can can get it and any advice on things to do or upgraded parts to buy would really be appreciated.

Follow Dave's advice.
I do, that's why my car is there. Just coming out of the 8 cyl world, it's something that was always done if you're gonna put out the cash for polishing & porting. Been looking through some of the other 2.4L sites & can find several references for porting the head and exhaust, but nothing on the oil galleries.

OK, another question on the engine build. You guys got any recommendations on a mild/mid level cam since Dave is going to overhaul the engine? Figured since I am getting a Stage 2+ sc, I might as well let it inhale & exhale a bit better. Not looking to turn 1/4 times, this is being built to be a canyon carver. Looking for good response throughout the power band.

Don't know of any performance cams available for the 2.4.

Don't know of any performance cams available for the 2.4.

We have done some regrinds similar to the LNF regrinds, not a huge difference, but it does pickup a little, especially midrange RPM

Add it to my bill, Dave!

But, you'd think that somebody, somewhere has already manufactured one. Crane, Isky, somebody...

Actually Isky did the first set we ever did for the 2.4L years ago :)
