Another (not mine) 2006 2.4 had an oil sender unit replaced while seeing about a galllon a month coolant loss.
Btw, no indicators of loss on the floor.
He just had water pump replaced at dealer and has lost a full reservoir in 3 days. Still no signs of leaks.
Suggested to dealer to suspect head gasket, but they said they had never seen in issue like that. Apparently they are not counting cobalts.
Any ideas?

If his oil still looks fine on the dip stick, then top off the reservoir.  Probably some trapped air and now burped properly.

Thanks, guys.

It occurred to me several hours after I posted that I may have been giving the dealership more credit than they deserved!

It was in Austin that I had to replace my w/p and got no more than 30 miles before I had to top my coolant off even though we thought we had gotten all the air out of the system. 

(I still have a mysterious gradual coolant loss w/o a trace of evidence, but I can live with it.)

Do the plugs show any sign of coolant getting into the cylinder?

A loss of a full reservoir of coolant sounds like one damn big air bubble!

They forgot to drill the little hole in the t-stat.

If they didn't burp it properly, there would be a lot of air in the system.  The heater core was probably empty also.
