Time to get rid of that 4x4 ST vs. BC
« on: May 22, 2015, 10:08:03 AM »
Hey guys, i'm choosing between ST coilovers, and BC coilovers. Any opinions? reviews? or insight? I really don't race, i just like to have fun in the twisties and i go to the strip once or twice a year. I know both brands will give me the 1" drop i want, but as far as quality, sportiness and durability goes i'm in the dark.
The ST package is $850, the BC package is $995.

Any input or even more suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks, Johnny!

I don't know about ST (Suspension Technique?), but I love my BC Racing coilover.  I ordered mine with a custom spring-rate combination.  The build quality is top notch and the fact that the springs and the dampers are measured has won them my business.

The nice thing with your coil-overs is you can set the height.

haha gotcha. Yeah I'm looking at 1 1/2" in the rear and 1" in the front. Make it look even.

Johnny_gxp - I set them close to the stock ride height, drop is only about 3/8-1/2". I wanted a better wheel control by raising the spring rates about 20-25% and the capability of adjustable dampers. The dampers can be adjusted to less than OEM (cushy ride) to much stiffer to compliment the now-more-rigid body structure and larger anti-sway bars.

I think you detailed it in another post, POSS VETT, but I was not able to find it.  I saw that BenL way back in the day did 6Kg front 8KG rear.     What custom spring rates did you order the BC's with?

Hmm, I wonder if those are the one I bought.  I can't remember who I bought them from, just that they were custom rates, and a decent price.

Only advice I can give the OP about BCs is don't set the rebound rate too high, mine are set midway and are quite stiff.

For the extra money I think the BC shocks are the way to go.  Infinitely adjustable height and Chop is right about not going crazy on the stiffness (although most people do - I've seen kids that put new Konis on their cars at full stiff which often makes them all but undrivable).

BC is your most cost effective option. dont skimp and buy the ST. Personally, i love my BC's. Make sure any coils you get are set up properly otherwise you will hate either one. And it wont be the products fault.
