Yeah,  I'm going to put the new filter in and drill out the fake mesh area in front of the air box to try to get a little more air in that way.  I'll see if that fixes anything, and if it does great...if it doesn't I'll just take the 90 degree elbow off and go with the smaller airflow extender.  I've read a couple of posts from folks who used the elbow extender and it must put the wiring or sensor in such a position that it causes noise and throws this code.....
