Topic: just bought a 2006 Solstice.

just purchased a 2006 Solstice without seeing the car.. doors have been shaved , looks good.  So you can only enter the car with the remote big pain.
here is my problem.. you need two people to open the hatch one to person push the button in the glove box the other person must grab the lid and pull open.  also the hatch will not stay up. The car has an after market security system, so I don't have a remote that will open the trunk.   I am new to these
cars so I don't know to much about them.  I did notice the one of the bars in the trunk does not stay in the hook.  it would be great to get so help on this problem. Hope I did not pay to much ($6000) car is in very good shape with 90,000 miles.

Welcome to the forum.  The trunk should pop up about 3-6" when you hit the button.  Not sure what you mean bars in the hook.  Are you talking about the release mechanism at the front of the trunk where the top goes into the hole?

The weight of the trunk is on a torsion bar at the back of the trunk.  Not sure if it is adjustable or not.

If you can get us some photos it would help.
There is a quick spring add that helps with the trunk, but it sounds like you need a repair first.

Yeah, it sounds like one or both of the torsion bars that spring the trunk up, are broken.  It happens, though not too often.  If you're reasonably mechanical, you can fix it yourself, but the rear bumper needs to come off.

 put two spring on, did not help. the torsion bars must be broke.   if i push the button in the glove box and pull up on the trunk at the same time the truck will open, but will not stay up..

Your key fob should also have a trunk release.  Sounds like you need a torsion bar

I think you should go to a few shops and explain what was told to you where they go . Take the bars and your car with you . Show them and ask for a price to install them . See if they will give you something in writing . & find out what their Labor rate is . they can pull it up on their Computer..
 I just had a new front splitter (not OEM was after market) installed and they looked it up on the labor rate for the Solstice ..Cost me 208.00 and took about 4 hours

All the non turbo cars had the single exhaust the the GXP/Redlines had the dual exit.  It was more of a styling thing then performance I would guess.

That would make sense otherwise you would have asymmetrical thrust.

only one exhaust pipe coming from right side of engine for turbo and non turbo cars alike.  Like the SA said turbo cars came with 2 tips for looks, not functionality.  Solo Performance makes fantastic exhaust systems and Norms Fiberglass makes rear valance to support 2 exhaust tips

i have a 2006 non turbo with duel exhaust..  another new problem having problems latching top ..handle will not stay locked in place. any suggestions.

Check and see if the latch is bent.  If you close the latch and put the top down it will bend.  Latch has to be left open when you put it down.
