DST Bug -fixed
« on: March 11, 2009, 07:36:10 AM »
Whip found that the DST didn't update.  I'm working on a fix.  SMF has a DST mod for it but with my current configuration, it isn't compatible.  I had to change the install.php to reflect my changes to KP.

In the mean time you will see your posts off by 1 hour.  You could go into your profile to update the time manually but once I install the mod, you would be 1 hour ahead.

Just got to the auto detect setting in your profile that you used when you first joined the board. Clicking the auto detect again will fix it.

Go to "Your Profile", "Look and Layout Preferences" and in that window beside "Time Offset:" click on "(auto detect)"

That is correct but you will have to do that twice a year.  That is why I'm working on a fix...

Ya it is kind of a pain in the butt.  :gaah:

This year and last, daylight savings time is few weeks earlier than it used to be. Maybe in a few weeks it'll fix itself.  :D

When I drove my GXP on Friday I noticed that the clock was off by an hour.  Guess I stopped driving it for the winter before the change and after the time changed back on Saturday it was fine.  So was I lazy or just really efficient?  Perhaps I was just ahead of my time.

Actually I think you're behind. :idk:  In the winter we are on Standard Time, and in the Spring we switch to Daylight Savings Time.  Unless of course you leave it wrong for 5 or 6 months, and then tell everyone you switched back early because you need that extra hour of sleep back

DST fix has been applied, go to your profile http://kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php?action=profile then select Look and Layout Preferences and select your time zone.  The default is NYC so members in this area do not need to do anything.

Joe,
Although I am in New York time when I go and look at the Local time is wrong. It is now 4:44 PM and is reporting 11:44 AM if I set it for NEW York EDT/EST.
If I leave it at Forum Time then it reports the local time as been 11:44 PM instead of AM.

Did you go into your profile and select the Eastern time zone as in the post?  It's now required for those on the east coast.

Yes I did and selected United States New York EDt/EST.
Joe I am talking about the summary page once you make the change in the link you posted.
The local time in the summary page is wrong.

It's not so much about your own posts, but it's the time as is shown to you. Makes a difference in trying t figure out what I've already seen or not...

I just use the new post botton and don't even worry about the time.  In fact, I never look at the time.

I use the new post button too, but because I always have a KP window open, it tends to just show me the old stuff that I decided I didn't care about the last time + new stuff.

As a side note, I've noticed that if I got to the home page, then hit the new post button it brings up a blank list. Seems hitting the home page "resets" my new posts or something and the new post button says "oh, we haven't had anything new in the last 10 sec for ya!"

I don't know if this caused my problem but the forum shows me -7h than local time.

I'm GMT +2h and I have setup in my profile - Look and Layout Preferences but that didn't fix it.

Any thoughts?
