Personally, I'm not sure I dig the flat black/blacked out/murdered out look. When it's executed well, I admit it looks pretty sweet on the right car. It's catching on here in Europe, and I understand it's been relatively trendy in the 'states for a couple years now.

Like I say, when it's done right, it looks pretty cool on the right car. But when it isn't or can't be done all the way, it can make a nice car look like a terd. Exhibit A:

This car has been in my parking lot at work the last couple of days. If I can catch the owner, I'll chat him up. Of course I'll try not to insult him. It's his car, after all... he can do whatever he wants to it. I'm cool with ALL Kappa fans

Now back to my opinion/soapbox...

At least he/she did the wheels. But:

- the windows can't legally be done here in Germany
- the chrome is still all chrome... at least smoke it
- that includes the headlight capsules
- why didn't they do the windshield surround??

Maybe it's a work in progress, and I should give the poor guy the benefit of the doubt.

For right now, I don't consider it murdered out... just "mortally wounded"

For my idea of "done right," I give you exhibit B

I'll even give a nod to this Z06 I saw at Nurburgring (even though he's French)

I'm not saying the car has to be an exotic to look good murdered out... but it doesn't hurt.

There is a difference between FLAT black, and MATTE black. MATTE black (like on the MB) looks very cool.

FLAT black looks like primer.

Im pretty sure it is a work in progress. He needs to darken up a couple things and his ride will be looking great ! If I didnt like Deep so much and if i had money, i'd probably go for a matte black finish

I don't get that murdered look. A car, especially one with great lines, should have a shine to it to show off those lines. No offense to fans of these types of cars, but I give this

Is this GT matte black or matt grey?

It was an inconsistent sheen (mostly matte, a tad glossy in some areas) of very dark grey. The wheels were fairly glossy as well - but at least they weren't chrome anymore...

2kwk4u from the fotos it looks matte grey and to be honest, i am a fan of matte on cars, but i wasn t happy with the result i saw on the pics you posted. maybe matte black would be waaaaaay better

I say go for rhino lining. You'll much more durable than paint.

All I have to do is my body panels and my car would be properly murdered out. But I am sticking with my Salt and Pepper theme. I like the white.
I just got it back from the Body shop [re-repairing the rear bumper and repairing the front bumper]

It is now 100% de-chromed and my fog lights are tinted to match my taillights. I tried to take a picture of the front, but the Glare of the sun was to much. I'll go out later today and take some pics. I even have a Smoked 3rd break light to install.

What is so "cool" about the matte or flat finish? Looks like primer to me. Saw a BMW here not long ago that had been given the all black treatment but the paint was still glossy. Looked much better than the matte thing. In fact it looked down right wicked! I do realize it is a personal thing but I don't think I get it this time around.

Brazen17 as you said this is a matter of personal taste.
if i may state my opinion, it is a psychological thing.
matte black reminds of the wicked airforce airplanes (that s why we often call the matte black as stealth like).
thus the matte black brings us to mind something wicked, something ready for "attack".
so it has bacome something like an automotive underground thing..

again this is my point of view and i like this matte black thing. i have to admit though that it looks better on some cars than on some others.

I almost had this done to my Solstice for the fun of it...but changed my mind for right now. I just thought it would kill the classy look of the Solstice.

I don't get it either its kind of like rat rods. You spend all that money roding out a car and then leave the body look like some rusted out junk yard reject or worse spend money to make a good car body look like crap.
