During Dyno and after GMPP SERVICE ESC, TRACTION, AIRBAG
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:49:56 PM »
I noticed that my Sky before the tune on the dyno was saying SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION. I wasn't in the drivers seat so when I got back in the car and pulled off the dyno it seemed everything was fine. Now a day after I got the GMPP tune and flooring it a TON and going 100mph or more to record my boost levels (21 to 23PSI) all the sudden it happened again, and also SERVICE AIRBAG

The car stuttered a few times, as if someone quickly hit the brakes or lifted off the throttle. So I kept it easy and slowed down but it would still happen when I gave it a little gas, the car still was giving me boost so I don't think it was limp mode.

Once I got off the highway around 30-40mph it seemed to have stopped, even when I floored it.

This scared the SH!@%$ out of me. But I saw on the other forums some really old posts, so I don't think it's that big of a deal but I am curious if there is some more updated info on this issue. Anyone know?

Just drove back home and it got even worse. my lights are flickering, ABS lights are going on, the headlights flickered the whole trip and actually turned off.

I got the engine power reduced message, pulled over, turned off then back on the key and that was solved. really nasty. gunna clean the battery terminals. but i think my battery is the problem.

i don't drive the car often, sometimes two weeks without touching it. maybe that has something to do with it?

Terminals look clean. too cold and dark to mess with that crap at this hour.

I really think it's the battery. my headlights don't even turn on when i unlock the car with the remote now. Only the daytime runners

It's normal to have service ESC and tc lights on the dyno. Only the rear wheels are moving and the ECM looks at all 4 wheels. It usually clears as you drive away.

You may have battery issues. Check all your fuses too. Make sure they are pressed in tightly.

When you Dyno you should take off the ESC controls. Press once then a second time follow by holding the bottom for about 5 seconds.

LV, I did turn of ESC on the dyno.

I definitely think it's battery related. I had a battery warning light a few weeks ago while I was on the track. But hadn't seen it for a few weeks. Now this. *ugh* guess I'll have the battery tested.

This is a documented battery issue, several people have seen it, there were some batteries that went out in our cars they were recalled. If I remember right some people got them replaced under warranty, if it was me I would replace the battery with an Odessey they are smaller and much lighter, I have a good batterey and may do it anyway.

Hello, seems as batteries are a problem for a lot of new cars not just GM but accross the board. As new car inventories are building up these new cars are sitting in huge lots all over the world and batteries are slowly draining and dying from just sitting there. Thanks Norm

I have some additional info that may be related to this that I forgot to mention. When the shop was hooking up the dyno to the wire by the coil/sparkplug thing for RPM, the first cylinder was giving inaccurate readings during idle.

The RPM meter on the dyno would jump all over the place. When you pushed the accelerator it was fine. The other cylinders were all fine during idle. Shop guy suggested a problematic spark plug, but maybe there is more to it.

Also remember this issue hasn't happened until after i got the GMPP Tune installed.

That is unless the paint used for the label on the side has lead.

I read somewhere else that there was another guy with lights flickering and doing some of the same things you describe...it was the battery!

So the dealer said my alternator wasn't putting out a constant current or whatever, so they replaced it and everything seems to be fine so far...

Going to push it hard tonight as long as it's dry and hope for the best
