VentureShield warranty claim
« on: April 23, 2009, 11:21:17 PM »
I have VentureShield on my car and it has been discoloured by the use of isopropyl alcohol on the surface. The warranty card clearly states that you can use that solvent on the surface and not I am having problems as the Canadian distributor has yet to return my emails.

Does anyone have contact information of the manufacturer in the U.S.? Maybe I can get some satisfaction there as the Canadian distributor is silent.

Nice product but no warranty protection?

I will if I can't find it otherwise, thanks LV. I was hoping not to bother him with this as he didn't supply it, I had it done locally.

I did get an email from the Canadian distributor this morning though so I will have to see how that goes first.

Thanks Capevette. I was hoping to get an email address. I should have been more specific. It's odd that there is no email address of any sort on their web sites.

I have a different number for technical support... 866-211-TAPE (8273)

They have a web based email system to eliminate the spam. Also prevents messages from being overlooked or being caught up in filters. Imagine what would happen if they missed an email and never responded... Not a good scenario.

Thanks everyone. I contacted the distributor here and they said that they will replace the film but won't pay the installer to put it on. It doesn't look like the installer is going to charge me but it isn't right that the installer should do it for free as it's a lot of work.

Okay, it's been a while since I updated this post.

The Canadian VentureShield distributor contacted me after my second attempt and they agreed to replace the clear bra on the bumper and hood of my car and that I should contact the installer that did the work.

I did that and the installer said that VentureShield would just cover the cost of the material. Gus the installer worked all day to do the replacement and also replaced the material on both front fenders to give me more coverage.

The cost of the labour to do all that work? I asked when I picked up the car and he said that I owed him $50. I gave him $100. He spent the whole day on my car and worked overtime to finish it. It wasn't his fault that my bra was damaged so he shouldn't have to pay for the damage with his labour. He has been really great through all of this.

I have mixed emotions. I am happy that the VentureShield has been redone but I am disappointed that the manufacturer didn't step up to make things right as they should have. Yeah they paid for the material but they should have covered the labour as well.

Ya gotta read the fine print.  I had that happen with a head I bought re-manufactured (for another vehicle) it had a pin hole leak.  Company replaced the head but did nothing about the labor.  The mech and I split the difference.

Yeah, unfortunately, it almost always states that labor is extra.  Whenever you see these deals like replace your brake pads and get free replacement for life, they specifically state, labor extra.  If you purchase electronics,  you have to pay for shipping to and from repair facility for warranty claims.  There is always the fine print.

I do agree, that was really nice of you to take care of the installer.  BTW - it was nice to have dinner and chat with you and Small Dealer at Joe's Crab Shack - Sly Bob.

The pleasure was all mine and no one there had a better time there than I did. The conversation was great! I enjoyed finally meeting you and your wife. It was great to meet Small Dealer as well. He and I spoke until after dark in the parking lot after everyone had left. Art has been a real asset to the community.
