California Registration Costs
« on: May 14, 2009, 05:55:05 PM »
Ugg.  So I finally got my bill for registration this year.  Seems Arnold thinks I should pay California $406 for a year of driving.  Thats a pretty steep bill for a guy thats averaging 4000 miles a year.  They even hit my up for $100 for a 97 Grand Am plus a smog test.  This state is getting too pricey for me.

I feel your pain.. I pay 2600$ for insurance on 2 motorcycles..as there are only 2 or 3 insurance companies in Ontario that will cover sport bikes, they know they got you by the kahounnies..add to this that they move the annual renewal of your policy to February (even if the intial policy was bought in the summer months) and then pro rate the total policy so the return on cancellation is used in the first three months that the policy is in force ( May..when there is still snow on the ground here)..so you can't ride for a summer month and cancel..it's to the point of being criminal..
Now I've gone and got my blood pressure up..

When Arnie got elected he used the then recent high auto registration costs as a huge part of his campaign appeal. As soon as he got elected the state of California DMV actually reimbursed motorists about a third of what we had paid. However, my last yearly registration (2010) cost me what it did right before the Governator was elected. Almost $500 for the Solstice. And the wheel goes round and round..... :cryin:
