Opels in North America ?
« on: May 18, 2009, 04:21:29 PM »
Hey there folks,
Was just wondering if anyone here has an Opel GT in N America?  Is it possible to get them?  Do they need to be exported and then re-imported or can they be purchased here (special).  They are made in Wilmington - right?

If not, has anyone re-badged a Sky to look like an Opel GT?

One not only re-badged the car, they also changed the backup light into the Opel's backup/fog light set up.

Thanks all - you have satisfied my curiosity.  Someday I'd like to have an Opel GT in my stable along with the Solstice

Thanks, It's been a lot of work but I'm happy with it.

The tail light is by far the most complicated mod, to make it function correctly it requires re-wiring, relays and load balancers. Not for the faint of heart for sure!

I have done all the badges which include the front and rear  (there is not waterfall logo BTW) stearing wheel, wheel caps etc.
my digital gauges run in kilo meters, added a shifter with opel logo.  Tail lights  Rev light all done as well.  i have re done the headlights like the Audi with LEDs. only part i lack is one no one else has thought of doing and its on its way here.

so yes i have the most converted sky to GT out there. and my parts came from germany   before anyone could get them.

Interesting that nobody has expressed any interest in doing the Opel side mirrors. :idk: :barf:

Does anybody have or know of a complete list of all the differences (including any drive train & ECU differences)?

I saw on Sky news today that Fiat is looking to pick up Opel from GM. I wonder if they're gonna kill the Kappa Opel GT?  :idk: Seems like the Kappa would be a good fit for them.  :2c:

So we would end up with a Dodge Solstice here in N America?
