Hotels around DDM Works?
« on: May 31, 2009, 02:13:36 PM »

DDM has a link to a bunch of hotel info, just wondering if any who have been down for work had a preference for hotels.  Booking to get my STII installed in July and want to make some reservations. We have to come in the night before and stay a couple of days. Would like a pool but not a must, be nice to be reasonably close to DDM.

Coming in from I75, hows the drive thru Great Smokey Mountain Nat'l Park on Hwy 40?

I don't know about motels but DDM is only a few milws from Greenville and I am sure there will be a nice one fairly close to DDM. I live close enough(80 Miles) so I have driven down there seversl times to DDM. I40 is a nice drive but in Tenessee about mile marker 540 speed drops from 70mph to 60mph then to 55mph. Quite often there is a Dtatr Trooper in this area. I have gotten a speeding ticket there.

We stayed an the American B&B. Its not a bad place, we are just not B&B people. We are planning a return trip this summer for a stage III and will stay somewhere in downtown Greenville.

Thanks Badsol, I saw that one , were not into B&B either. Does look like there are lots of hotels around Greenville.

Dick , thanks for the advice on the trip on I40, don't need a ticket to ruin my day. Probably more an issue when we head home with the S/C under the hood lol

This motel has a pool and is 5.8 miles from DDM. you can google for directions to DDM.

Have a good trip and keep your foot off the floor hen you get the SC.

I talked to Dave this morning,  actually going to swap him my car for the loaner on Sunday when we arrive so didn't need to stay real close to DDM to get the car into them early on Monday morning.

Thanks for the suggestions, we decided to go to the Hyatt in Greenville which is a few minutes more away then the Holiday Inn  but seems pretty nice based on their pics.  Looks like  it was just built or newly renovated, has a pool. It will keep my wife happy which is a good idea given the bucks I am spending on my toy this trip.

Now if Jeff at Solo would only call me to say my valance is in so I can get the new exhaust system on...  :brnout:

Can't give you much advice on a hotel... My parents have a 3,500 sqft home on Lake Keowee in Seneca, SC (I refer to it as PARADISE). Seneca is within a reasonable distance and fun drive from DDM. I wish I was going to be down there at the same time because you could have spent the night at my parents house and we could have enjoyed a boat ride after DDM did their magic to our cars.

Just a word of warning... Once you visit the area, you may never want to leave and will not be able to stop thinking about the next time you can go back :D
