New Product! - JPM Knee Pad
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:45:34 AM »
Ok, after months of playing around with different foams and such, we've finally released the official JPM Knee Pad for the Solstice:

It uses 1/2" of a unique foam padding that has been selected especially for it's quickness in rebound and compression capabilities.  It attaches with our standard high heat resistant foam tape.

$65 is the release price but it will go up to $70 after I sell 10 of them because of the cost of the foam.  Feel free to order them on our website:

http://www.jpmcoachworks.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=163

Be sure to note that they will ship in 2-3 weeks while we get new materials in.  Thanks for looking!

I feel like I helped birth this baby.  I think I was the guinea pig for the prototype and know I gave some feedback, which appears to have been incorporated into the production version.

Anyway, I heartily endorse this product!  Here's why:

(1)  It looks fantastic and works even better tossing the car around an autocross course.

(2)  It will not push you up into a more modified SCCA class!

(3)  It works great on the heavily cambered mountain twisties, like Va. Route 211.

(4)  Chicks will ask you "what's THAT for?"  You will glance over knowingly, with a wry smile, and reply: "You'll find out!"  Cool factor -- +10.

So unless you are one of those racers who like to sit and wait for the pretty Christmas lights and then blast off in a straight line for a quarter mile, this kneepad is a must-have for any performance-oriented Kappa pilot.

Thanks for the support Ben.  Your feedback did indeed help the outcome of the final product along with a few other members.

Yes, but i have to have time to finalize the design.  I don't have a car here in the shop at the moment. Can someone post a pic of the door along with a circle of the area where the knee rests?

I recommend this especially if you are going to T2TR or to Nationals in Canton. Those roads are intense!

No, the price is per pad.  I guess you could mount the other one on the passenger side but I think it might interfere with the cupholder.

I ordered one last week, can't wait.  I have wanted a high quality one for along time.  The one being sold on Ebay looked like cut foam and didn't interest me.

When I wear shorts while driving, my right knee starts to hurt after a long drive from hitting the plastic.

I'll be interested in one for the door. First time autocrossing, and I've got a nice bruise on my left knee...

Here are the best pics i could get with my iphone. I can take more another time

thing is the left knee really hits on the edge so i am not sure a pad will help, i might just get some cheezy fabric kneepads to wear, or racing seats which will eliminate this completely

I don't think that link works well on this forum.  I copied the link and went to your mobileme gallery though.  Looks like your knee is right in the concave triangular trim piece in front of the grab handle.  Is this about the same for most?  Not sure how a pad would fit around there as well.

it was meant to go to the gallery. for some reason the link doesn't get underlined until you mouseover but it is clickable and should open in a new window.

Looks like maybe something in that space just above the speaker would work well.
