18x9 O.Z. Ultraleggeras installed!
« on: July 15, 2009, 08:49:31 PM »
Well, I got my new 18x9 O.Z. Ultraleggera wheels installed (all four corners) with 275/40/18 Nitto Invos. *after further investigation Ive noticed slight rubbing in the rear (rubber to wheel well). It appears that it happens during hard cornering because there is alittle space when straight, I checked after a nice spirited drive and tires were still warm.
The rear wheels touch the upper control arm while on jacks but after settling on the ground have about a fingers distance between. Souldnt be a problem unless I catch some air.

The tires provide a whole lot of traction.  :drag:I can get on it alot more with out worrying about the rear catching up with me or swinging around during turns.

All I have are cell phone pics for now but after I get back from Alaska in about 4 wks Ill get better ones.

Boy those look nice, I would love to have such things on my black gt also.

I bet you will improve that 13.6s with those shoes. ;)

Thank you.  Im thinking theyll help bring the times down.  They are wider, grippier, and lighter than stock. The 13.6 came with a 2.3 60'  so Im thinking I can get that down quite a bit.  Ill find out hopefully August 19 when Im able to race closer to sea level.

eventually I probably will but it is not as bad as the pic. I literally just got it off jacks when I took the pic (if you look closely where the rear jack point is, you can see where the jack sank into the ground a little, was only 104*that day) .  It sits alittle lower now.

Added a correction to the first post. Looks like I may be adding a spacer to each rear wheel.

If you lower it in the future, it will give you a little more clearance.  You should be totally fine though.

Oh no it won't. Been there, doing that. As one lowers the car the camber goes more negative thus leaning the tires IN towards the inner fender well sheet metal !!!!!!!!!!!!! Hammer time.
