My 07 GXP did not come with XM ready so can a person just buy a stock XM receiver that  will be plug and play into the stock high end radio?

Better off getting an aftermarket XM that plugs into the antenna line.  The wiring harness for the cars with XM is different and has the XM module in the trunk on the passenger side.  I've been inside several non-XM cars (mine included) and several XM cars (ChuckDoc, DarkTech, Cheers, Whip)

There are factory XM units on eBay all the time, the wiring harness is there, you will need an antenna. At some point mine will be on eBay when I upgrade to a Kenwood.

Had to go to the dealer today so I asked them about XM.
The parts Mgr cameout and actually checked and made a call.  According to the person he talked too the 07's were different from the 08's-09's.  The 8's-9's all come with the XM receiver and you would just need to activate the subscription but the 07's were made to order with or without XM so the wire harness would be different.  This means that in my case I could not add the stock XM receiver and also found out they don't even make a upgrade kit for my 07 Sol.  I guess I'll just keep my setup that I have now for XM which is a XM unit that plugs into the Ipod jack.
If anyone knows different then please let me know ASAP since I can get a stock receiver and Ant for about $75 and that would be cheaper than upgrading the stock stereo head unit.
Thanks

Not sure I agree with the parts guy, why would GM make 2 different wiring harness's and keep the dealer from being able to add the XM unit. It is much cheaper to use the same harness and just not install the XM box and antenna. As long as you have the Monsoon and there is a band button on the radio I bet you have the harness. That's the way it is on my 2003 GMC truck, I added XM to it's and not a GM unit, works just like a factory unit. Stations and songs display on screen. (I bet even if you had the cheap non monsoon it used the same harness it just wouldn't work with the XM) Once upon a time a very long time ago I used to do stereo upgrades for dealerships. They don not want to not be able to sell a car because it has the wrong stereo, so for the most part the harness from the factory will support any factory upgrade.

I don't remember where I heard this, but I confirmed it at the first Mecca Meet, there are/were two seperate harnesses, depending on the build order.  I asked the guy doing the harness installation.  I did not realize that it was changed in later years.
