OK, as noted elsewhere, did this at SMM7. It is 2 very solid days of work, lots of blisters, 5 bandaids on my hands last night, but well worth it. With the top up on the Beltway, it is as quiet as my wife's Murano. Eric Clapton and B.B. King sound like they are in the car with me on Riding with the King. Haven't tried the top down yet (full trunk, rain, excuses, excuses).
I have the stock exhaust and am glad I did not do the trunk. The exhaust (at an appropriate volume) is music to my ears and it is improved now. Getting rid of the other racket, it sounds deeper if a bit quieter.
I am having to relearn the pedals as the floor is now higher with the deadener beneath it.
A few tips. Dry ice on the stock asphalt-based stuff on the floor - no good. Just made it hard, not brittle. Mine took a propane torch and 2 solid hours of scraping. Watch where you point that flame but if you run it over the stuff until it bubbles (which it does very quickly), it comes up like butter. But there's lots of it and its still 2 hours. Or you can wait a couple of years and it seems to just come off on its own. Critters apparently came up like rolling up a mat.
GJ, JimmyBaja, and TomatoSoup (I can't quite remember who told me what now but thanks to all 3!!!) had me put a lot more CLD tiles on the back wall than in the pics and I'm glad they did. In particular, I put little pieces of it in the recesses for the subwoofer (leaving the stock stuff on the back but putting more tile pieces around it) and the bass is wonderful. In fact, I used to increase the bass over stock setting. Now, I have turned it down below the stock setting. Its wonderful!!!
Last, this is really a mod meet deal. I would have done half the job I did without all the great tips from those that went before.
Many thanks to Don (Rudeboy) for all his help and for coming up with this solution! The automakers would be smart if they were talking to you!!
