Steve,
This is what Rudy says on his site. He said SOMEWHERE that they aren't primed but are raw plastic. Can't find it at the moment. It does however say at the bottom of the page, "One Recessed Grills Set (RAW UNFINISHED)" and not "primed, ready for paint".
I have a little concern about the durability of the grills. If the tabs break off as easily as they do, will a stone strike break them?
"Keep in mind, that these parts will have imperfections (air bubble pockets and /or
broken/missing mounting tabs) concentrated mostly on the back side or non-visible side of the frames and inserts. All of which will not affect the proper seating during installation. The hexagon hole tunnels will have parting line or mold imperfections as this is where both halves of the mold meet. These areas can be sanded or filed smooth if you want every hexagon tunnel to be flawless. But, this finessing will require time and patience to do this and IMO, it's really not going to be that noticeable unless you paint the inserts a bright and glossy finish other than black.
However, the front surfaces (visible side) of both the frames and the inserts will be nearly perfect without any flaws or cavities from air bubbles. Final finessing and finish work will be up to you on how far you want it to look perfect before paint application. Lead time is 1-2 weeks typically pending work load and demand.
Also, this mod DOES require you to trim or remove the black foam bumper behind the fascia. Removing it entirely is easier and even quicker to do than to try trimming the rubbery foam material itself."
