MAF Sensor
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:34:58 PM »
I am trying to locate the two wires on the MAF that control the IAT function(cold Air?). This is on a 08 Solstice N/A Automatic.
Thanks for any help I can get.

did you buy some chip or something from ebay that would give you like 50hp or something like that? cause it kinda sounds like it?

Yes I bought the SLR chip. Since I have it I may as well try it. Does anyone know which two wires I need to connect to on the MAF?

According to manual for a 2.4L...

pin A yellow - maf signal
pin B black/white - ground
pin C pink/black - ignition voltage
pin D black - low reference
pin E tan? - iat signal

Btw can you open up the box and take a pic for us all.

I keep reading that this is a peace of crap. But I have not read were anyone that has used it has said that. As a matter of fact, I can find only one person that has installed it . That was in May and he never posted a review yet. I would just like to hear from someone that has actually used this chip and what they think. I have been reading that changing the resistance can change the signal that is sent to the ECU that makes it think you are getting colder air and it increases the fuel. I see were that would make your engine run richer, will that increase the HP or may it wash the oil off your cylinders. I am just wondering.

Doesn't the ECU take readings from a handful of sensors as a check and balance of sorts?  Also if one sensor is giving a different reading than what the other sensors say it should doesn't it go more to a default look up table in the ECU just to keep everything safe?
Me thinking out loud as to how I thought the ECU should work.

It looks like the information that the ECU gets on this is from MAF. And there are two signals that it is looking for . One is the Mass Air Flow Sensor Signal and the other is the Intake Air Temp Sensor Low Reference . I guess this chip fools either one or both of these readings.

You could of simply bought a potentiometer from radioshack and wired it into the iat signal, this would allow you to adjust the signal to whatever temp you'd want. However the gains on a naturally aspirated cars are very small and usually not worth the hassle.
I hope you didn't pay too much for that.
