MP3 CDs
« on: August 25, 2009, 10:37:50 AM »
The song title and artist information on the Pontiac Audio System only displays when the MP3 track is burned using ID3 tags version 1 and 2.  Not everyone knows or understands how to burn MP3 CDs so I wrote the following article with detailed instructions.  I hope it helps:

Thanks for the excellent write up.

One point of confusion for me: In some places the write up says to use the V1 format, in others it says to use V1V2 format. Which is correct?

It now has fancy tags on the display that I've never seen before. No goat didn't add suggestive phrases!

I just used iTunes and made sure the tags were correct, the MP3 player in our cars can group by venue if you like, you can create any venue you want so it will sort the CD when you play it and play them together bt venue. Smartin if you hit the button under the funny Key looking thing on the radio display the info display will go back to what you are used to. I didn't add anything, all that is there is song, artist, album, and the folder name, as the mp3 CD is technically a data CD, you could create different folders I suppose with different types of music if you wanted to. As I still have the factory radio I have started using the mp3 cd's more and more, just easier than the iPod, but the iPod is MUCH faster. When I get a new head unit I am going to put a terabyte drive in the glove box and never play the same song twice

Did you know that most recently made prerecorded CD's have the ID3 tags on them and if you press and hold the info button it will show the song name and artist, hit it again it shows the album name.
