I checked with Vince and in your case you'd be able to switch between the custom tune and the GMPP tune.  Per Vince, "We use GM's programming service to get the current, latest tune for the vehicle by VIN.  Whenever GM installs the stage kit, they update their
database for that vehicle, so we'll always include the right tune as a base (and the right stock tune)."

That's pretty cool.

That's pretty cool.

can you ask vince if it's possible to send our ecu and have him save the tune in the car?

I want to be able to go back to what the stock ucu has mapped after these 50,000 miles when I'm going on a long trip, gotta have that 45 miles per gallon back if vince's tune gives lower mgp numbers and I don't want to risk the stock tune as it comes from the factory unmapped

When I said Download I mean from the cable(e-mail tune) to the ECM. This is fine.
When I said Upload I mean from the ECM to the cable into your laptop. This can NOT be Done. I was told this by Dave from Dejon and also it was verified by Vince.
The ONLY thing you can upload from the ECM is datalogs.

It does not look like the tuner in Miami is on board to do the tune. There is NO Dyno at his shop. He uses someone else's.
I am sure this is the reason Vince has not made any more contact, although I send him a lot of information.
I am going to go ahead and wait for Dave\Randy from DDM to send me their upgraded tune for my upgrade wheel.
They have a new map for the Upgraded wheel.

From Vince, "The learned data cannot be "saved" from the ECM.  Well, it probably can, but nobody has a technique for it.  It gets wiped whenever the ECM is reflashed, however, it will generally be fully re-established after 100 miles or so."

didn't know it would only take 100 miles

my real concern was that (even though there is no evidence to support), there might be more then one factory tune

my car clearly outperforms most people with stock tunes, I have better 0-60 times even with the stock tires and far better gas mileage to boot

then there are some people who think I'm crazy saying what my mileage is and they can't come close and others who say they get the same mileage

could be hardware differances but might it be soft ware, now I know there is only one official software package on a stock car but never the less I have very good reason to believe otherwise

here's an example, my ecu does NOT turn the ac compresor off under wot, I know this as a fact, yet other people say their ecu does turn hir compressor off under wot

i'll probably wind up getting a new ecu to be certain

I  think there are some variables that play into that though.  Even though stock the torque management limits the max power output you still have everything in-between and theres alot that can cause one to be faster slower than another at that point.  All the way from fuel rating, tire pressure, boost actuator setting from factory, climate conditions, elevation, road conditions learned driving habits ect.....will all play a role on how the car drives and what kind of performance it will have.  All this even though the ECM will manage a stock output of the vehicle.  Also have you by any chance looked at the ecm for the numbers on the side to see if they match others that have the same year and type of tranny as yours?  That might give you some insight as to what is going on?  Have you taken it to the dealer to ask them why the A/C compressor  doesn't bypass when you go WOT?  Maybe they could offer some insight also?

I haven't asked the dealer to check the ecu and to be fair, I really am not certain it happens in any gxp, I know people say it's supposed to happen but nobody has told me they've seen their compressor turn off when they floor it

would you look at your compressor while someone else floors the car while air conditioner is on please?

you can tell that you will see the differance by asking him to first turn off the compressor while reving the engine a little bit

then have him turn the ac on and floor it to a safe limit, let me know if you see the compressor disenguage

I have checked mine both visually, and with my dashhawk and I am certain mine does not but I need direct confirmation that someone has seen theirs does

when I get the chance I will check the ecu number adnd post it

Sittling still and punching it, won't put a load on the engine so the AC won't disengage.

makes sense but that means it's not wot that trips the compressor it's something else

some cars used open loop to trip it

anyway, this is why I used my dashdaq to see if it happened as well, no go and I am really wondering if it actually happens at all on our car

now I can tell immediatly by the air temperature from my vents, when it seemed to me the air never got warmer even when I was flooring the car it made me wonder if it happened at all

anyway, it doesn't happen on mine and I have no real confirmation anyone has seen it happen on theirs

I was wondering how the heck he could tell if the clutch was engaged or disengaged.
I don't have to see mine to know it's not running freon through the lines since the a/c doesn't blow cold air when going WOT so it not cycling anything through at that point.

well that confirms it for you, mine continues blowing cold so I hooked up dashdaq to monitor as well and it confirms on my car the compressor is commanded on throughout

so I guess mine is either unique or something is wrong, I tend more toward unique since everything works exceptionally well otherwise and this is one of the reasons I believe my tune is not the same as most that come out of the factory

never will I know I guess, but off to bed for the day

Instead of guessing just go to the dealer?  I would and will actually go to findout some info for us all if I can.
If there anything like some Ford dealers they can hookup there Notebook PC Plus scan tool and run through a diagnostic with the car parked.  The Diag can be run on specific areas items like turn on/off fan or lock unlock doors or a set like every system controlled by the BCM or climate control ect.  They should also be able to do a scan on the fly where the PC data logs a set of parameters kind of like the DH/ DDaq in real time.
I highly doubt that your vehicle is a unique one out of all but if you think it is then why not findout if it is or isn't, especially if it was purchased new or used?
If it was purchased used It is quite possible that someone has altered the ECM and or ECM programming and is the reason you may notice a difference in the way it drives.
As i mentioned above allot can influence the way the car drives but if your seeing  5 sec accurately measured 0-60 trap times (not Dashdaq measured)  then something more than likely has been done with the ECM if it was USED.
Does the Redline used the exact same ECM code?
Also could it be possible to use a Redline ECM on a Solstice GXP if they have different calibrations?  The reason I ask is the Redline does have a faster recorded 0-60 trap time as measured by Car and Driver by .4 sec.
Just something to think about.
