This one had about as many miles. 5.0 engine. Great truck, sad to see it go that way. For it's age it really was in great condition.
2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Crew Cab, LM7 4L60E (What I traded my Kappa for. I regret nothing.)
2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS RS LS3 TR6060.
2021 Ram 2500 Cummins
2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. 3.6, manual trans.

I am not saying what I pay it's a lot. USAA clean driving record and 3 vehicles and home insurance with USAA, I get screwed because I am single, but USAA has the BEST coverage around bar none. Anyone who is retired Military or the spouse or child of retired Military can get USAA, or if you are active duty. I was eligible because my x wife's father was retired USAF, even after we were divorced as long as I hadn't remarried, talk about a loop hole. USAA had my son's car towed 180 miles to his house when he broke down, for FREE, no accident car just blew the clutch. I don't know of any other company that would do that, and AAA sure won't. I had custom led lights on my truck and custom wheels and tires, busted the lights and a wheel and tire. USAA paid to replace all of it. The adjuster told me he repped several companies and no one else would have done that. USAA will replace your mods if you have an accident.

I'm with Geico and I only pay $752 a year for my Solstice GXP and $802 a year for the 09 Coupe

I may have to look into Geico. Erie charges me $1100 for my Sky. And get this, we pay around $2100 for the Sky, Accord and Saturn SL2. They want $3000 extra to add our 16 year old son to the policy only to drive the Accord.

My Sky costs less to insure than my Buell Firebolt.

I'm at $1600/year for 3 cars as well.

I looked into Allstate and they are expensive as hell.
I used to have Nationwide, but they fawked me on a home claim so I dumped them.
I have Geico now.

In reading that article, I guess it wasn't in my best interest to smoke that WRX yesterday.
He apparently was an accident waiting to happen.
Well, I did what the article stated.  I passed him and then left him in the dust

Not only the region, but even your address.  Those insurance gnomes slice and dice theft and accident stats community by community.

The also get away with profiling people in ways that would get the cops sued.

Legalized extortion.

my altima was involved in a nasty hit and run.  looked like a tow truck backed in to it hard in the parking lot (irony at it's best).  did about 6500 in damages and USAA sent out an agent, assessed the damaged, sent out a check, all in less than a week.  none of my premiums went up at all since it was not my fault.  <3

Interesting thread Joe, thanks for posting it.  We have been happy with our coverage over the years even though our rates went up after my accident taking out a Ford F-150 truck while driving my 1995 Firebird Formula several years ago and ending up down a 42 foot embankment which caused me to retire 4 months early.  But Travelers has been good to us since.  It helps to have the entire package with one company I have found.  Anyway, back to topic.  We have full coverage on three vehicles and $1,000 deductible Collision:

2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP:  $646.00 per year
2000 Lincoln Navigator:       $528.00 per year
1998 Mercury Villager:         $448.00 Per year

So we pay $1622.00 for all three.  Not to bad.

Update:

It's been awhile since this thread that Joe began has been posted to!  I just wanted to see if our rates have gone up or down in the timeframe?  Well, I was kind of surprised to find that for us it has been considerably down :yay: we are still with the Travelers Insurance Company, they have been very good to us, just checked & here is what we pay now for 1 year's coverage:

2007 Solstice GXP----------$456
2000 Lincoln Navigator---- $426
1998 Mercury Villager------$308

Total-------------------------$l,l90  Full Years Coverage

By the way, my wife's green 1998 Mercury Villager now has 110,408 miles on the odometer and was purchased brand new.  It is still running like a charm.  Our 2000 Bicentennial Lincoln Navigator "the Beast" is young at heart and has just 46,137 miles although it has been on many vacations.  Miss Red Eagle has some catching up to do...most of her mileage has been going to and from Regional and National Meets!  It is nice that the insurance has gone down over the years.

It is indeed an honor that the Pontiac Solstice was named by US News as the 2nd Best car for Insurance Companies!  I believe that has something to do with the crash statistics on the Kappa's!  From what I can understand you would think that crash rating would be poor for a Roadster, especially fitted with a 4 cylinder turbo charged engine!  However it is the hydroforming that has helped by eliminating welds that add needless weight but add precision.  The key is the high strength to weight ratio required of a light but powerful sports car.  To complete the deal add in the fact that there is a racing style front and rear suspension of double wishbones of forged aluminum.  GM provided us a very safe car with advanced engineering.  It is indeed one strong little sucker!!!

About $1700 for the GXP and the Soul.  And if anyone is shopping, I highly recommend E-surance.  They have been great!

USAA is charging me $1464 a year.  Not bad considering I'm in the country with the highest vehicular fatality rate (so I've heard).  I'm paying for the following:

Bodily Injury Liability:         $100,000/300,000 per person/per accident
Property Damage Liability:   $100,000 per accident
Medical Payments:              $10,000 per person
Comprehensive:                 $250 Deductable
Collision:                          $250 Deductable
Rental Reimbersment:        $30/900 per day/maximum

Wow, I pay about $1300 a year for 3 cars and a bike, and I have a 19 year old daughter with a 2010 Accent, a 2008 Sky Redline, and a 2009 Nissan Rogue, plus my 2005 BMW R1200ST (MC).
