Hi ya all are
« on: October 07, 2009, 08:44:20 PM »
Hi ya all are.
I love the forum but would rather be driving the red 08 GXP out of town (West of Cleveland, OH) and onto the back roads, the tail of the dragon would be fun, 318 turns in 11 miles.  You guys have some real good suggestions on performance enhancements. I was thinking of adding the GM censors and flash but I do not like the idea of cutting and splicing the wires. They need to come up with the correct connections otherwise the kit should be in Disneyland (Mickey Mouse).  I could drive to Dejon's (four hrs away) on my way South to visit friends and have them add a tune.  The car needs to be louder also.

Welcome flying fish.  You will find all kind of viewpoints on tunes here.  There are a lot of good ones and it is a great way to add performance to your Kappa.  DeepBlueGXP set up this forum to have a primary interest of Performance.  If you have a question, just ask, someone will try to fill in the spaces for you.

Thanks for joining the best Performance forum on the net.

Welcome to the best Kappa forum, you will find lots of topics about aftermarket parts.

I suggest to do a reading initially and then start posting questions for your particular case.

The things are pretty clear around here about mods.
Tune:
- if you care about your warranty go for GMPP upgrade
- you are willing to go aftermarket there are some good tunes: Westers and Trifecta are most discussed around here. If you have knowledge you can tune it yourself using HP Tuners.

Exhaust:
- only one name and most of the owners agree: Solo Performance
- there are some other options also: RPI, Borla or Magnaflow

If you like twisty roads many will suggest you a ssupension upgrade: coilovers, backbone and probeam, Z0K bars.

You have some homework to do. ;)

It is kind of hard to get exited about cruising in the GXP when there is a foot or two of snow on the ground.
This would probably be a good time to put performance enhancements on it.
I do not know how loud I want the car to be, Solo street race or mach shorty or rear center duals.
And I need to find the most convenient way to add the Wester's race tune.
I will probably go the the national convention in Canton Ohio because it is very close to where I live.
Have not decided whether to stay at a hotel or drive to and from the event.
There will be many exhaust systems to listen to so the decision on which one is best will be easier.

Welcome to the forum, if you can't find it here stop looking! You mentioned The Dragon. Awsome road, have been there on two wheels twice (that sounds funny  :idk: ), waiting to do it in the Sol. Lots of info, dig deep & have fun!!!

Hey flyingfish, welcome to the kappa forum from the other side of the Atlantic!!
just a piece of advise: i woulld suggest you go with Solo, but think a lot how much noise you want before you go with the race. mach shorty with an HF cat is loud enough, if you like it that loud!

you all people mention The Dragon. i would certainly love to drive it with my GT! any videos of you guys and gals driving the dragon?

very little traffic in part B.  Must have been a good day for driving.  Most of the stories I hear of the Dragon are "too may cars/ trucks / people.

I wonder why this stretch of road go so famous.  I would think there are many roads like that around the world / country.  Never having been there myself, I would have to ask those that have been there, is it really any better than other windy twisty back roads?  What make this so special?

There's a video of me on the first Dragon. Not sure if it's still there because of the music copyright. Will try to find it.
